1. The benefits of being able to write in bed are surely great. Had about four hours of U2 on shuffle....some good stuff I haven't heard in ages and now just a random selection. Currently Streets of Love by the Stones.
  2. I've been singing a bit, I feel like I'm getting pretty good at adding rasp in a good way. The way that doesn't hurt your vocal cords, and enables you to just switch to a clean voice.
  3. Rasp is quite difficult, I don't know how people do it so well. I've been learning to sing with a lesser vocal capability because of my throat - but working back up. Can't do falsetto any more sadly or my screaming.
  4. It's important to take care of the voice. I haven't sung enough in head voice, can't do the "I'll give your roses..." extra ZooTV verse on MW that good anymore.
  5. I'm realising that now. But I had a cold and so that's what's also done it in too, but hopefully my scream comes back.

I find a lot of the early 90s stuff difficult to do. What is the roses part of Mysterious Ways? I don't remember it.
  6. The one Bono did over the extended solo at the end of the song on ZooTV. The high screaming falsetto/headvoice:

    I'll give you roses
    I'll buy you things
    I'll show you places you've...
    never seen

    Something like that.
  7. Oh yeah, I remember now!
  8. I sang that part a lot a few months ago, and I could basically nail it. Now I've forgotten how I did that.
  9. About the screaming, hope you're doing it the right way if it is those kind of distorted, raw kind of screams.
  10. I must try it and see how I go. I think I could do it.

With the screams, it's not raw at all. Very high, like this. Not easy.
  11. But kind of raspy. Hope you're not doing that raspiness with your vocal cords, but those 'false' vocal cords things.
  12. I just do the rasp however it comes out. I can't really describe how I do it because I don't know how but I just do them.
