On the point of the criticism, is not time that U2 got over that? I mean 1988 was 23 years. Naturally after the success of building success from War through to The Joshua Tree it was probably natural at the time to feel the pressure and take criticism to heart. Rattle & Hum has had all this time to mature and really warrant a place in U2's history. Whilst I think a re-release is not necessary (The film has been released on every format imaginable) I think it's time that U2 stepped back from the scene and take a look at their 31 year musical career and start to accept the 'failures' and realise that their fans have actually got a lot of admiration for the material.
I would like to think that one day U2 will look back on their career, listen to some of the fantastic material that they put out that has been forgotten or disregarded, detach themselves from the media and just say "yeah, it wasn't actually that bad in hindsight'.
As for Rattle & Hum remaster? I don't think it's going to happen.
