1. I didn't know where to put this, but as we're all music-lovers, I'd thought this serious case deserved a topic...

Yesterday evening, serious bad weather hit parts of Belgium and the Netherlands.
Among that parts was Kievit, home of the festival Pukkelpop these days.
It was that severe that 4 stages/tents collapsed, resulting in 5 deaths by now and many more severe injured (+/- 40)
All concerts are cancelled, the festival is over.

I'd also like to refer to the almost identical accident in the USA last week, were a huge stage collapsed in Indianapolis.

Condolences to the families and friends of the, probably very young, victims of both disasters.
  2. This is almost as scary as sad... I'm so sorry for the families and friends of the victims, and for the victims themselves, it's very sad to be injured or dead when you've gone there to have lots of fun listening to the bands you love... It's so incredibly sad
  3. Just saw the news about this tragical thing. My prayers and thoughts to everybody affected by this tragedy.
  4. my thoughts and prayers are with those who died or got injured.

we had the same storm over here last night (I live no more than an hour from the Dutch and Belgium borders), and it was awful beyond words. I cannot understand why they kept the festival running. There had been severe weather warnings all day long for the evening. I hope the ones responsible will have to stand up in court for this.
  5. The Pukkelpop area is about 500m from my parents home. A tree fell on their home, just some small damage luckily.
I just moved out a year ago, now i live about 5km from pukkelpop.
    We had the same storm.
    Trees over roads.
In 2 minutes it became from day to night, the sky was even darker than black.

A lot of my friends were at pukkelpop.
They are all okay, because they live around the area.

    But I'm speechless.
Nobody and nothing can be prepared for a storm like this.
Trees with a diameter more than 1m just broke like lucifers.

My prayers go to all victims (physicaly and emotionaly) and their relatives, families and friends

The organisation warned the guests, but I guess they didn't know it was going to be this bad. I mean, this is probably nothing for some other countries, but I haven't seen this a lot over here.
  7. Terrible what happened at Pukkelpop. My 2 nieces and some friends were there, I’m relieved they are all fine, but shocked about the incident. It should have been days of joy and laughter, too bad . It’s a good thing the festival is cancelled, as respect for the victims. My thoughts are with the victims, families and friends.
