1. I figure it would be a great idea to start this thread. Many fans who go to concerts enjoy collecting memorabilia and items related to the band. Apart from the U2 shrine in my house, another interest lies in collecting guitar picks from the band. When it comes to U2 there are two kinds of picks / plectrums

    1) An authentic pick - these are picks that Edge, Bono, or Adam would actually use in concert and strum their guitars with. They are usually made by a company called Herdim that are located in West Germany. The guitar techs that U2 employ also have these picks and sometimes hand them out to fans.

    2) A tour pick - these are picks that are used to commemorate the artist (in our case U2), the performer (in our case Bono, Adam, or Edge), and the tour (Elevation, 360, Vertigo). These are not used on guitars but are more like a souvenir type item that is in the shape of a plectrum / pick.

This article that was written by someone else in 2010 has the most extensive information that I've found to date and dealing with U2 picks.

I'm going to post my collection thus far. It would be neat for other people to also post pictures of any other picks that aren't posted. I'll post ones from my collection as well as some others out there.

The front and back of a blue U2 360 tour pick. This pick also comes a translucent yellow.

The front and back of an authentic Bono pick from U2 360. Notice the Herdim micro bumps. Notice the fading of the Bono stamp. Maybe faded from guitar use.

The front and back of an authentic Edge pick from U2 360. Again, notice the Herdim bumps and the small U2 stamp.

The front and back of a Vertigo tour pick with Bono's autograph on it.

The front and back of an authentic Bono pick from the Vertigo tour.

  2. An authentic pick (I think it's Bono's) from the Elevation tour. Front and back. Again....notice the Herdim bumps. Notice the raised U2 inside the circle.

A Vertigo Tour pick with Edge's autograph on it. Front and back.

An Elevation Tour pick with Bono's autograph on one side and an eye crying representing the song (When I Look At the World). Front and Back.

A gem of a tour pick. You know the dudes who worked the U2 360 bridges? Well one of them gave me this one. Kinda cool!

Ok...so I thought I'd throw this authentic pick here just so you know that U2 isn't the only band in the world that has their own picks / plectrums with their names on them. So many other bands do it. I got this one in Pittsburgh.

  3. Here are some others that I don't have.
More info can be found here.....as well as fakes that pop up on ebay and stuff.

Yes....like many other U2 items, there are fakes that appear on ebay. Check the link below to see what I mean.

  6. If I ever obtain a U2 pick (please, Dallas, next time stop by, right? Thankssss) I will make sure that it doesn't get lost, damaged or anything bad in any way. What a great post, Mark!! Thank you
