1. U2 demonstrated that they could play any one of their songs live well.
But "Grace" might be hard to be made interesting and they didn't ever try.
  2. There is a story that the band thought Bad would'nt be abble to play live but it did ...at the beginning of the unforgettable fire tour the where struggeling to play this songs and bono did not good what they do with the Wide awake part .... just a little story

  3. They kinda go hand in hand, and 'Zooropa' is a good example.

  4. Miss Sarajevo"
  5. I'm going to throw '40' into the mix. I'm not old enough to have heard the album version before the live version, but based on the album version is doesn't come across as one of those song that will work live unless played in a certain way and in certain set list position, its just to short and simplistic. Clearly it does, summing up the emotions of a show and providing a memorable ending with each band member walking off the stage as the song slowly comes to a close.
  6. This isn't as widely known as "Zooropa" or "Miss Sarajevo" but I'll go for "If You Wear That Velvet Dress". When I first heard it, I didn't think it would work cause of it's "loungy" feel. But when I heard it live on PopMart bootlegs, I was stunned by how good it was live. It's still my least favorite U2 song but even if you take it's first preformence in Las Vegas, despite it being such a disaster for them, I loved Edge's soft guitar picking on it. Also Mexico City is a must too.
  7. 'The Saints are Coming' is a good exemple of a bad live performance.
  8. Miracle Drug.

i thought it was too layered and effects-y to work, but it turned out quite nicely. same goes for Ultraviolet.

  9. Zooropa completely worked live on the last leg even though it seemed like it wouldnt LOL

  10. I love Zooropa and am glad they played it. However, the crowd at the concert I attended (Toronto) really didn't seem to be into it at all. Damn shame.
  11. Not sure this is exactly the same thing, but I never really got Exit until I heard it live. There is just so much energy in the live performances.
  12. Im not necessarily talking about the audience recognizing it or not, its so obscure for the average audience that i dont think the song ANYWHERE would get a crowd singing it. Its just not that type of song. HOWEVER, i think the way they peform it coming out of MS with the questions and the screen etc, etc. was easily one of the greatest stand alone moments of the show i attended. Everyone around me looked mindblown and that i wont forget.
