  2. I'd say Dark Side is the only album in the history of music that rises to its "rating" in terms of being overrated. You can talk that album up for years, and it has been, and basically everything that has been said about it is TRUE. It's probably one of if not THE greatest album ever made, and don't give me any bullshit about Sgt. Peppers either (THAT'S when we'll get into what's truly overrated..)

  4. We, lovers of art, have always had this fun way of trying to deal with the definitive. What's the greatest album/song/film/TV show etc. etc.?

    I don't deny that I make it a point to look for the best of any given art form. However, the relationship between any given art and the fan who loves it is, and always will be, a very personal one.

    For example, with all the recent talk on this thread about The Wall, who's to really say that one Pink Floyd album is better than the other? I mean, some people might prefer it over Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here despite the fact that the posters in this thread (along with many music critics and other Floyd fans) think that those two albums are better. Should that person be condemned for it?

  5. Apart from the songs already mentioned, I also really like Nobody Home from The Wall.
  6. i think "overrated" is an overrated word hehe .. especially (is it right Sergio? ) in this case
    the greatness of this opera is the whole .. wall .. not the sum of the single addends .. all the songs, fillers, transitions contribute to make it .. uhm well .. what it is
    that said considering the songs itself, aside of the ones already named, well there are many tunes that could be great just by themselves but grow with immense "power" there where they are when they come.
    Thin ice, Mother, Empty spaces, One of my turns, Happiest days of our lives, Another brick in the wall part I, Run like hell ... and even ... The Trial

    i'm not trying to say it's better than the other 2 albums .. when in presence of such greatness i think one should say "i prefer" not "it's better than" .. my opinion
    by the way i prefer Dark Side

    it's not like comparing Achting Baby to the Bomb

    ps: i haven't noticed that the Pink Floyd thread has changed its title hehe
  7. Gotta agree with Ronnie there. The Wall as a whole is a fantastic concept and the songs when played together are quite powerful...when I listened to that album for the first time I connected with it in a personal way, as I was having similar experiences - it's a very well done concept.

  12. I never really put Wish You Were Here on. Welcome to Machine isn't pleasant to me, it's awesome, but it isn't pleasant to listen to, and Wish You Were Here gets boring for me quick. Have a Cigar and Shine are awesome, but to me the entirety of both Dark Side and The Wall are good.

    Animals and Meddle are kickass though too..
