1. I did not know of the break-ins till they told me.

My friends are usually pretty honest with me, about anything they do that is illegal. I have a reputation as being non-judgemental, and I never tell them what they should do, only suggest things.

I was stopped by a cop once as well, but I got the impression that he was just bored, and trying to pass time (it was like 9:30 at night). I find if you show no fear, and just ask them straight up what they want, they will be respectful, and to the point.
  2. Being non-judgemental is the best way. If you're going to judge someone, they'll find something about you to judge - and no friendship works well that way. Criticism is no problem - makes you a better person, I think - but constant judgement and 'oh I'll judge you for....whatever...' isn't a healthy thing.

When I was stopped, it was four of them either side of me and saying 'You look identical to the person who did what we're looking for (theft of 12 or 14 bicycles from the near university)'. O rly.

I showed no fear to them but when four of them are surrounding you for no apparent reason, you do become slightly uncomfortable. Anyway that was over and done with - two days later they found the two people who were twice my age and a male and female!!!

I'm better at questioning people than that. Also good at reading people. I would know inside of five minutes if you where connected.
  4. Yeah well if you're gonna ask questions by intimidation and threat, probably you're not gonna get the answers you're looking for. If anything, I'd be a smart arse to ye.

Reading people, depends. I can tell when someone's upset or fearful, but knowing truly what it is that's caused that - has to be done by questioning, slowly. I think the answers I gave them were more so not dodging the question, but simply I don't go to the university and I forgot to renew my license, so 14 pushbikes being taken on transport would not be the easiest.
  5. I don't advocate intimidation during questioning, unless the person being questioned is acting all tough, and it obviously a facade, in which case, I have no prob using threats to knock them down a peg. Usually though, I believe in use of psychology, and a little subterfuge to find out what I want to know.
  6. I don't act tough in situations where I know someone has the upper hand. You're just asking for shit. Not that they would, but I don't have full use of my left side of my body, so if force was used I wouldn't be able to do much unless my right side is working properly.

You just need to start with simple questions, then move on to more tougher ones as you go along - usually it's easy enough to understand the simple stuff, then you can work out for yourself where you're going with this.

In any case, I must be off for the moment, some stuff to get done shortly. Good talking to ye and stay safe.
  7. Yeah it was an interesting conversation. Honestly, I think I'm just being paranoid about the shit going on in my neighborhood.
  8. Shit happens everywhere, you've just got to keep safe and avoid it.
  9. If you have a feeling or suspicions, nothing paranoid about it. Although paranoia can sometimes be quite a burden...

    Take care.
  10. Coincidently it's been happening in our neighborhood as well and im scared im home alone if someone try's to enter,
I dont particularly like knives and I wouldn't like to use one either,
so I can understand your paranoia Aaron.
But next time im getting a bigger dog.
  11. My friends love life, is starting to become like the directors cut of Apolcalypse Now.
