1. WOW Matt, that is HUGE!!! Congrats, it must be a great experience
My band and I played a Muse tribute last Friday, we played to 200-250 people which is not bad at all if I may say so I can imagine how it must be to play to a doubled audience!

Will you be performing covers and self material or what?
  2. Our average crowds are usually around 100 people, but once we did play to probably 200 tops...more like 180 I would estimate. The bigger the crowd the larger the thrill, that's for damn sure. I kept up with your posts about the Muse show, and saw your setlist - glad that went well! Were there any videos? Particularly of Plug in Baby??

And yes, I think we'll sneak in one or two originals into the set. We want to keep the crowd's attention and keep them dancing, etc., and most people there expect covers as cover bands get booked for that show every year. So yeah, we should hopefully top out at a few hundred before the masses appear in the later evening.

We're beginning the setlist writing process tonight!!
  3. I have no idea what the most people I've ever performed in front of was.

Great new Matt !! Congratulations !

After the show you have to share the setlist and the audio
  5. Friendly reminder: Father's Day is this Sunday.

  6. Was on the 9th of May, here in Germany. @Ross1441
  7. "Yeezus is the darkest, most extreme music Kanye has ever cooked up, an extravagantly abrasive album full of grinding electro, pummeling minimalist hip-hop, drone-y wooz and industrial gear-grind. Every mad genius has to make a record like this at least once in his career – at its nastiest, his makes Kid A or In Utero or Trans all look like Bruno Mars."
    - Rolling Stone on Kanye West's latest record

I just had my first, and probably last, listen. It's way too extreme for me to enjoy. Not a single song I like.
  8. Au contrare, Fabian, there are only one or two songs I don't like. I think his drift towards intensity and relaying discomfort in his music is fresh and has a very raw vibe to it.

Black Skinhead, Can't Hold My Liquor, and Blood on the Leaves are my favorite at the moment.

What bothers me most is how the lyrics transfer from poignant, powerful, and cutting to downright stupid and absurd in mere seconds during some songs.
  9. Those three songs are indeed the best songs on the album.

It feels a bit like the discussion we had after the release of The 20/20 Experience. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye's latest solo album, was a masterpiece. His drift towards intensity is definitely interesting, but in the end I like the old Kanye better.

Yes, and as time has gone on, I have actually fallen away from 20/20 more than I ever did with FutureSex, so there is a point to be made there. It went from #1 album of the year to #4 or so very quickly. Here are my top albums of the year thus far:

    1. Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City
    2. The National - Trouble Will Find Me
    3. Kanye West - Yeezus
    4. Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience
    5. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

It seems to be such a typical list, but those albums can't help but be great!!!

And with Jay-Z just announcing a new album, man....this year is just STACKED with great releases.
