Your uncle's life had as much worth as anyone else's, Aaron. I, too, have had family members die due to drugs and I've not been without my own issues way back - not everyone gets through it. Or, rather, they don't get through it in a good way. Again, though, you're missing the point - when people express their shock at the sudden death of an artist whose work they admire - whatever the circumstances of that death - it doesn't reflect well on another person to be as airily dismissive as you were. Regardless of your view of Hoffman's life - or Heath Ledger, Kurt Cobain or even your uncle, for that matter - and death, posting something in order to get a reaction (congratulations on that one, by the way) is pretty tasteless and juvenile. If you've nothing nice to say, why bother saying anything? Keep that stuff between yourself and your friends. Personally speaking, I find Hoffman's death to be a sad waste of a life, the passing of an awesome talent, far too soon. You're right, though - you pretty much know where you are with animals.

Wasen't trying to get a reaction. Just stating an opinion. When a famous person ODs, it is seen as tragic. When a regular Joe ODs, its seen as pathetic.

On another note - man I love the low-key versions of Staring at the Sun tacked onto Discotheque during the Elevation tour. So trippy and fun.

Calgary night 1 had a great crowd singalong on it, listening to the boot now.

Finally started clearing up a little bit. Feel like I can step outside, without a full survival suit.

But, hey. At least neither of us got it as bad as those poor basterds in Minnesota.

Yeah no kidding. Have a good friend that lives there, but I guess you get used to it. Those days that dropped to -40 or so once the windchill got factored in were such a bitch, though. That was back in December.

I've been ready for spring for months. Baseball, biking, and I find I get along with women better when its warmer out (cold weather makes me really snarky).

Granted, my lack of effort with women I like, comes largely from the fact, that I have a phobia of love. Just recently realized it, and it explains a lot.
