I'm not trying to personally offend you, but this is a terrible way to judge a career field.

Those people don't get hired. And when they do, they don't last long. Trust me.

Got a friend who's been applying to be a cop for over a year now, having a ridiculous time trying to get hired. Graduated on the honor roll with a 3.9 GPA from a Big Ten university, bachelor's in criminal justice. I'm his primary reference, so I get the phone calls every time he has an interview - these people don't fuck around. If his attitude, application, demeanor, appearance, or work ethic is less than apparently perfect, they move on to the next one.

Stay dedicated and worry about yourself. Stop giving a shit about other people. I guarantee they're not losing any sleep over you, so you're wasting your time caring. Worry about it when it's actually a problem.

Reference?? Is it normal there to let a friend (Don't know if you guys worked together or something) be your reference?

I've got three and all those three are old employers for who I've worked or hired me for a couple of moths while I was doing school projects there.
  2. He's never had a real job before and we were in a band together for a little while (that actually played out, gigged and made money), so he can sort of say he worked with me and get away with it.

I've also known him probably the longest out of the friends he has that he still talks to.

Aha yeah than it makes sense

So we can say your friend is applying to be an Incognito BurriCop?
  5. Hahahaha I cannot believe you remember that old band name

We were The Danny Tanner Band when he was in it, actually. Good old DT.

  6. Close enough I remember it because it's a funny thing to imagine haha
  7. Congrats on the job, Matt, by the way. I saw it on FB but my phone won't let me post for some reason. So glad for ya
  8. HAHAHAHAHAHA THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I IMAGINED!!!!!!! hahahahaha
  9. Your job sounds fucking splendid, Matt. Right up your street. I can't congratulate you enough.
  10. FUck the sight of those burritos just made me hungry Which is a terrible thing since I'm still 3 hours away from finishing my shift and having dinner
  11. Ah well thank you I suppose I'll clarify for my other friends on here.

I have formally accepted an offer to work for a concert booking agency in Chicago! My first career, and it's exactly on the path to my dreams of working in the music agency. Never thought I'd get it right out of the gate.

I'll be doing a lot of tracking money for shows and working on the "show finals," which is following up with artists and venues the day after a show to make sure tickets were accounted for, money is in the right place, etc.
