1. I feel like I was the only that thought Cedars of Lebanon was one of the worst songs on NLOTH. What's so special about it?

    It's feeling.

Choose your enemies carefully cos they will define you
Make them interesting cos in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning but when your story ends
Gonna last with you longer than your friend

Epic way to end the album.
  3. The lyrics are pretty good indeed, but the music is boring.
  4. I love Cedars, not in the same way I'd happily put Last Night On Earth on but in a way that it always surprises me when I hear it.
  5. It's really boring. I always thought the lyrics were nothing special either. No matter what, I always usually end the album at Breathe. I suppose, in terms of how musically good they are, Cedars is definitely better than Stand Up.

  6. Them rolling green hills of Eire right there, folks - ain't going back home, stayin' here for good, aye <3

That's what I'm afraid of the April trip. I think that I won't be able to come back

Yeah, really. GOYB is fun, exciting, experimental and new. Magnificent gets really monotone after just a few listens.

Ireland, the place I'm in love with without ever having been there.
  9. Hello Drew
  10. Boots is better than Magnificent. That said, I actually like the Magnificent remixes over the actual song itself.

It's one of those songs to me that's like Beautiful Ghost or Dying Sailor. .. simple instrumentation but the words are so strong. Even Oh Berlin - it's like a sort of 'companion' piece to Cedars. Not so much the lyrics but the whole concept. Hope there's a few songs like that on another album.

Probably the only songs that I don't listen to on that album are Magnificent, Crazy Tonight, Unknown Caller and depending on my mood, Stand Up. It has a great rock atmosphere about it, and still wouldn't have chosen it as a lead single or even a single full-stop. If they were clever, they'd have released two singles - No Line with the remix version of it, and Breathe coupled as an EP with Soon and two live tracks.

But then I can sit here all day debating all the crap choices for singles, Hamish Hamilton's camera skills and lack of decent B-sides and the overpriced releases and the 'we don't like Pop' mentality - unless someone wants to.
  11. Excellent post Drew.
  12. Don't get me started on Hamish Hamilton. Long-time members will know why straight away.

    Hey Olof.
