Arm the rebels to overthrow the dictator now, so we can arm the rebels again in 20 years to overthrow the rebel leader who becomes the new dictator.     In this case there weren't even any rebels. Turkey has a long history of military coups. The military in the past also claimed to represent secular values but after all the executions and chaos settled in, the new president was as theocratic as the old dictator.
    Every strong democracy was not born out of coups but from respect of institutions and civil liberties. The people of Venezuela is fighting hard through the civil institutions (that Maduro is trying to undermine) to overthrow their terrible government. This shows that there are other ways.
