I watched the last half hour. And it was basically on the Hudson. That guy was smug, and he had every right to be. What a landing.
Worst thing about that flight is freefalling in a built up area. Credit to the pilot though "Where do you want to land?", "We'll be in the Hudson". Almost as though he's saying "I'm going now, if you want me, we'll be in the Hudson" Originally posted by iTim[..]
Yeah, a lot of time was given to the Hudson landing even though there was only a small CCTV video of the plane hitting the waterWorst thing about that flight is freefalling in a built up area. Yeah, and the water was ice cold too. Very risky and could have ended in disaster, but kudos to him.

Did you see the plane that had hydraulic issues and had no landing gear? Had to land on it's belly. When you consider the skill it takes to land a commercial jet under normal conditions, it's extraordinary to see them land a plane with no landing gear, severe crosswinds, single engine failure and in the case of the Hudson crash, a double engine failure.![]()

Nah, I didn't. That would be so scary to be in a plane during a problem with the plane, then having to land knowing that you could be lucky to be alive when you land.
Did you see The World's Dangerous Runways? It was Channel 5 over a year ago, and it showed you some of the weirdest runways in the world - like one's that end in water, and one that had a road in the middle of it. It was surreal, but it was a great program.
