  2. 6 hours 10 minutes, EH? How the fuck is it that long?

  3. One is 3 hours 20 covering Shakesperean drama (Hamlet in my case), Comparative section (comparing 3 texts; Casablanca, A Dolls House and The Great Gatsby) and then poetry (4 out of 8 assigned poets come up, you do one).

    Then paper two is 2 comprehensions and creative writing (speech, short story, personal essay etc). That last 2 hours 50 minutes.

    I'm fine I guess. A bit tired. Trying to make some music every once in a while. Bought a delay pedal a few weeks ago if you didn't know, a Boss DD-20 Gigadelay.

    Our two papers are: close reading (2 passages and you have to answer questions on the sentence structure, word choice, techniques, all that shit...) and then 2 critical essays (where you have to write about books/plays/poems/movies you have studied and talk about it's effectiveness and all that).
  6. Our English was split into two, language and literature. Language was usually an extended piece of writing and a paper on comprehension, which involved reading a few articles and picking out information and writing about it (Three hours usually). The Literature was split into two also, one paper was Shakespere (Macbeth at GCSE and Romeo + Juliet at A-level) and the second paper was poetry. Again, three hours combined.
  7. Kieran: Think I did ok, comparative was a bit of a waffle at times but poetry went well I thought. My creative writing wasn't brilliant though. Probably a B overall. How are you getting on?

    Olof: I feel the same way, never able to play music much anymore Yeah I heard you got that, I'd say it's good fun. Did you get that ME-70 too? I got a piano over Christmas, it's amazing.

    Tim: Are A-levels the exams you do before you leave school and GCSEs the ones you do mid way through? We did R+J mid way through.

    GCSE's are the age 16 exams (end of school), A-level are the further education exams at either a college or sixth form, age 18. GCSE's determine your ability to sit A-levels and A-levels determine your ability to study at University.

    We have:

    Age 14: SATS
    Age 16: GCSE's
    Age 18: A-levels
    18+: University.

    There are SATS at age 11 also, they determined which learning level you are placed at secondary school. Depressing that I've spent the past 18 years in some form of education. Sometimes wish I could go back to being 11 again though, school was great.

    Yeah, I think I might have got a B. One of my essays drifted away from the question quite significantly so I'll probably just scrape a pass on it. Close reading was great, the questions were right down my street. The other essay was pretty good - went well.
