1. As long as we're all around, does anybody think Red Hill Mining Town is a boring song? It doesn't really go anywhere in my opinion. It's slow, and it never "takes off" as far as I'm concerned. I think a song like Silver and Gold, or even something like Deep In The Heart could've been much more interesting in that spot on The Joshua Tree. Maybe it would've benefited from a live treatment, maybe not. It's not a BAD song by any means, I still listen to it when I spin JT, but I still think it's a bit boring.
  2. I love Red Hill Mining Town. Mainly because of Bono's powerful vocals. Shame it was never played live, and it will never be played live unfortunately

They're powerful, but he has powerful vocals on much better songs in my opinion!
  4. Actually, that's a good question to ask: what is everyone's worst track on The Joshua Tree? I can't decide...

You know mine! It always bothers me when I read U2byU2 that the band don't think much of In God's Country. They pretty much politely say "it's a shit song". I love that song.
  6. My girlfriend really likes Red Hill Mining Town. I like it too, not a standout track but not a complete dud.

In God's Country is a great song. The version on Rattle & Hum (the movie) is amazing.

Oh yeah. Would be better if they didn't cut out a verse, but as it is it's still great. When Bono snippeted it at the Rose Bowl show, when it was being streamed live, I was like "whoaaa! Wasn't expecting that! "
  9. My least favorite song on JT is Exit, but I need a disclaimer. I just didnt get it whenever I listened to it. But when I heard it live, I felt like I finally understood it. It makes me appreciate a lot more having heard it live. The energy they put into it, like on R&H, is what makes it such a great song.
  10. That's an easy question, Trip Through Your Wires.
  11. I ADORE Red Hill Mining Town. I love singing it in dueto with my mom, she sings the Bono lines and I sing harmonies (a 5th usually) above that - pretty hard but incredibly gorgeous sounding and much fun to do
  12. I once came across a website that was called something like "complete the Joshua Tree" and it was an extended tracklisting featuring a bunch of the b-sides in a certain running order on the album. The guy who made it basically said you can't understand "this" song (ex. Trip Through Your Wires) without "this" song, (ex, Walk Through The Water). I can't remember what his match-ups were, or what the running order was, but I never got a chance to try it out. Would've liked to. Can't find it anymore though.
