1. They all stemmed from one incident in Lonodn though where a Police officer shot dead a civilian which later turned out to be the wrong call. Most of the rioters were actually just youths jumping on the bandwagon, wrecking shops etc and stealing. All of them of an age where they wouldn't have had physical punishment in school.

I think there's a difference between using reasonable force as a deterrent and using violence.

I'm not saying it was because of physical violence in school.

I just drew a parallel to that a police using force is met by force. That there's a relationship between the force used by different sides.
  3. Yeah, but if the kids were deterred from misbehaving in the first place, they would have a better understanding of what can and can't be done. There is very much a mentality of "You can't touch me or I'll get you fired" in schools over here. Probably due to some cases where careers have been ruined when teahcers are pushed over the edge by students.

Just tell the kids you'll call their parents instead of hitting them.
  5. Parents also need to have effective discipline. I don't think kids would behave bad at school if they don't at home.
  6. I'll get back to you tomorrow, Tim, I didn't find the time to do it tonight After all, I have an exam tomorrow and I had to study a bit

    Good night!
  7. No problem Sergio, there is no urgency for a response

I'm watching some stream on the Grammy website. Worried it won't show the actual show though... anyone know a stream of CBS?

I'll be watching some of the start. Then I'll fall asleep. It's 1:20am.
  10. Just go to bed and find the good performances in the morning. There aren't any groundbreaking artists nominated, just hope that the ones who deserve it win. Keep the Arcade Fire tradition going of giving the deserving people the Album of the Year award (In this case, it better either be Foo Fighters or Adele. It'll probably be Adele).

Foos and Coldplay's performances should be good.
  11. I want to see Springsteen.
