1. Not my money, my mothers the big REO fan.

    And yes Kieran. Another gig

I've known that I was getting these tickets for about a month though, its been on my list since then. Just today was when I got the tickets. Tomorrow is Radiohead & Dave Matthews Band sale date.
  2. Nothing like going to every possible show you can. If more shows came here that I could afford, I'd be going every weekend to one. REO Speedwagon, there's a name I haven't heard for a while. And you haven't experienced concerts until you've lined up 12 hours through burning sun, rain and wind, all in the same day.

Next for me is Duran Duran on the 20th, but not before Ross Noble on the 13th.
  3. I don't want it to seem like I'm made of money here, either. I work a retail job 4 or 5 days a week in the summers and get paid decently, and save most of that for school. I have a nice savings account that most of my gifted money for Christmases etc. has gone into, which I draw out of per semester for college funds. What's left over, I then dip into for my own spending. Which consists of show tickets. So basically I have one summer's salary and some extra run-off of a saved budget to work with. And I'm almost out

Also, Drew, I just did 19 hours for John Mayer- nothing like it, you're right.
  4. I don't mean like "yet another gig?! you go to too many", I actually envy you for going to so many. It's just that your list is absoutely massive! Mine is tiny.

Sometimes I even get mad at myself for how much I indulge though. It's abnormal (though extremely fun).

Some people aren't as lucky and are FORCED to spend some money on other things that I may take for granted, and I remember those people with each show that gets announced. There's a twinge of guilt in every transaction.
  6. 19 hours for John Mayer - you beat me by a good 7! But yeah you've got a great repoitoire of shows right there, something someone of your age should be proud of. I think the only other ones I lined up for ages (again in that damn rain) would have Shihad / Korn / Nu-GN'R. Worth it though and then third longest would've been Meat Loaf for about four.

Re: gigs and shows: pick up your local paper, check out cheap shows - as long as age limits don't apply. They might sound crap from descriptions but I've had a great time and met some fantastic people (and gone back for a bit of a party afterwards).

If you try, you never know.
  7. I'll be buying my Leeds Festival ticket on Monday. £200 straight out of my wallet...
  8. ^ Who's playing?
  9. Absolutely right on that one Drew, I can't second that advice enough. Even mid-level gigs, like the ones that take place in popular clubs in Chicago and cost $15, are worth checking out if you're bored.

There's a show here in the local theater actually that has two indie bands on the bill for $3. Friend of mine is going so I might try to drop in if I can get a ride down to the theater. I just don't really bother to list petty ones like that on a concert calendar but checking out local shows should be a priority for anybody trying to expand their live music repertoire.

Also Kieran, that's 200 worth of memories you'll never forget, that lineup is killer. Was thinking of Oxegen where the Foo Fighters are playing. Leeds isn't out currently right?

Oxegen isn't happening this year, but Leeds haven't announced their line-up yet even though that line-up I posted is very realistic. It looks legit.

When is Lollapalooza announcing their line-up?
  11. ^ Not even that, there's always free shows happening usually every night. Call up a few mates, see if they've got some killing time and go forth.

$3 for two indie bands? Sold! And yeah, why not - might as well. That way, when someone asks you which bands you've seen, these ones don't come close to U2 or others for how big they are, but it shows you used your head and in the end to find some inspiration.

Kieran - Tenacious D? Sold! And Lana Del Ray, she has that nice video out at the moment which I saw at about 4am the other morning, it's a nice video. Makes me think of the mid-90s conceptual videos. Korn I saw at Nu-Guns and can't say I thought they were much chop, but not bad if you want a sore neck in the morning. Spotted Jack White on there too - I love 'Get Behind Me Satan'.

And that mofo Skrillex - what is he smoking? It gives me a headache. As for Duran this month, I still haven't found out who the support act is. It's like two weeks away....
