Though remember when making music required talent, and now all you honestly need is a Mac? Yeah me too.

I don't agree at all with that. Talent is still the most important thing. Maybe an Apple can help talent bloom though. But really, you don't need a computer to make music.
  2. You're not seeing my point, let me be more clear.

Talent is still the most important thing. Apple IS helping talent boom. And of course you don't need a computer to make music.

But...talent is not the only important thing anymore. The access to easy production etc. is what helps shitty music of this generation thrive. And you don't need a computer to make great music- and there's still plenty of music around that doesn't (along with great music that DOES). But when you streamline the ease of such a process, though it does make it easier for the actual talent to thrive, it automatically makes it easier to be used by those without the talent.

I'm not in any way saying Apple is somehow responsible for bad music- I'm just saying the technological advancements that Apple acts as such a great platform for have made it clear that anyone with access to the software can make something that sounds like it could get a record deal. The argument is moreso that "discovery" is not what it used to be.
  3. On the other hand it being a lot easier for people to make music gives access to making music to talented people who wouldn't have been able to make music, because of economical problems and that stuff.

It has its pros and cons. I sure love being able to record and produce music for my own enjoyment though.

Also, there's always been a lot of bad music.
  4. Its definitely got its pros. I agree with you about loving recording my own music.
  5. I just cooked a 3-course meal and I've been up since 6... AHH, I'm fucking knackered!

Now to play FIFA. Tim, I signed Ben Amos for my Bronze Ultimate Team squad.
  6. Come over, at about 7pm
  7. Everything is like that though. Facebook is the same, it's easier for any idiot to express their opinion to as many people as possible, just as with the easiness of recording increasing, there's more bad music to sift through to get to the good stuff.

That being said, it's a huge plus for anyone who's serious to make an amateur recording that sounds almost as good as a professional one. You don't even need a studio to record anymore, and even further than that you don't even need a label to release your music or market it anymore. Upload it to youtube, or get it on itunes (not difficult) and boom you pretty much have what artists spent loads of time trying to get at one point in time. All you have to do is self-advertise over the internet, and through word of mouth you might just have something, ALL of which spawns from a basement recording and sitting at your computer. Are there things wrong with that? I'm sure. But again, it's GREAT for people like us who just want to record our music with some decent sound and show it to people.
  8. Good points all around, Alex.
  9. fecking hell.

for, what, 3 days? yeah, 3 days and nights I sat here and watched the room that once was my safe living room but has now turned into the realm of MacSpidey the MonsterBeast.

after being silent and invisible, it has just now returned.
It has shown its evil ugly face.

I shot the pic from a hundred miles afar. believe me, the thing is huge. bigger than anything you've ever seen. in fact, it has indeed grown since we last faced each other. It sure has.

    So.

I got my Weapon of Doom and pushed it hard into the beast's face.....and when I took my magic weapon away, expecting a thousand spider crumbles scatter in ashamed silence to the ground..... I witnessed MacSpidey run in a fat and fast wobble-wobbly style down the wall to hide behind the frame of my signed Music Rising shirt (blasphemia).

so... instead of hiding behind this

like I had thought it would.....

...it is now definitely hiding behind this

...as I saw it squeeze itself behind it at warp speed.

    Fecker.

It knows the few holy places a MacStripey won't touch in harmful way.

Round 2 goes to the beast.... again
