Yeah, I had read that too, long time ago. Wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironic_(song) ) says:

Some people have way too much time. Looking into a song called ironic to see if ti's really ironic or not..

It is a great song btw, as is the whole Jagged Little Pill album. Got an used version of it last year for €1,99

Yes, all that analysis is completely over the top in my opinion. The song is just great, and it could be called "bubblegum underground" and it still would be great

When it's an Alanis Morissette song, it's bound to have irony.

When a critic starts to delve into the song, it's ironic that they don't understand it. Maybe it should be also known as 'It is what it is'.

"An old man turned ninety-eight. He won the lottery and died the next day."

Poor turn of events. But it happens. What can you take from this irony? That shit happens.'

Nothing. Or you can jump. See how ironic that is - the irony is either way something's going to happen.

Irony is defined as:

The expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

So are parts of the song there for the emphasis (coming up with the most ridiculous yet possible situations) or for a bit of humour?

(Now I feel like a critic). And as for 'shit happens', it was not meant literally. In the context of being ironic more so.

I think they're old links though, from around 2006. A lot of the newer uploads tend to be in a folder.
