1. Kirsten hates it too
  2. It always seemed misplaced on the album. Streets needs no introduction, Still Haven't Found is sacred, and Without You comes close to song perfection. The outro of WOWY is possibly my favourite "part" of any song. Any other musician would have put a full solo there, but U2 knew better and put this beautiful strumming in instead which was just complete genius (I'll apologise now for not knowing anything about music/guitars ).

The finish of WOWY is untouchable. And yet, due to the structure of the album, that euphoric, legendary finish is halted abruptly by that miserable racket that is BTBS. That's why I hated it.

  4. Edge
  5. I could watch that video all day.

  6. It's true though; those few seconds of that song are some of the most defining moments in music.

  7. This video pretty much sums up Edge's genious and his incredible approach to how guitar playing should be. His simple strumming during the WOWY outtro has always fascinated me, and I had shivers when I first saw this video, many years ago. Still have them

gotta say too, I always hate when Bono gives his "Thank Yous" to sponsors and the fans during the outro.... however, I don't mind it with Shine Like Stars and Never Tear Us Apart

You know? After 25 years of listening to the album and its singles, my mother feels exactly the opposite way. She can't barely listen to the opening trilogy anymore, she says "I must have listened to this songs a hundred thousands times in my life" and in fact she skips them most of the time (when I'm not there, then I put on Streets and then let her skip Still and WOWY) and starts the album directly with Bullet.

I agree with you on the misplacing, though. In my opinion, both Joshua & Achtung running orders are their weakest points... I have posted my perfect Achtung order several times, but I don't think I ever posted my perfect Joshua one:

Where The Streets Have No Name
    In God's Country
    Trip Through Your Wires
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
    Red Hill Mining Town
    One Tree Hill
    Exit
    Bullet The Blue Sky
    Running To Stand Still
    With Or Without You
    Mothers Of The Disappeared

This way, songs flow much better into each other I think. I even burnt a copy of this modified album and we listen to it at home sometimes.

I don't mind when he does it in the relatively quiet part before the big "oooh oh oh" explosion. "Thank you, goodnight, God bless you" would suffice, I agree. And of course Shile Like Stars + LWTUA
  11. I can't help but say "Goodnight" along with the studio recording right before Edge goes into that little part at the end. It just fits so well and for some reason it has a lot of emotion to it for me. Dunno why.
