  3. I'll need a delay after that but that's me for a while. I'll be getting a Fender Telecaster after Christmas and probably a new amp too - either a Marshall 100 watt or a Fender Deluxe. Only if I can justify the price.

  4. Well, maybe true bypass since I've heard it stucks quite a bit of tone. Then you can mod the sweep by moving the tab on the wheel inside. Then perhaps some resistor changes, stuff like that. Loads of stuff on it on the net.
  5. @Kieran: My recommendation that I've come to realize after failing with two amps in a row: buy something with tubes. Even if you're on a budget. You will absolutely get a warmer, more genuine sound, and don't worry so much about wattage. I'm looking at adding a 10W head to my rig due to its' tubes and overall tone, and even though it's quiet on its own, everything can always be mic'd.

    Just my two cents, obviously do whatever you please. I've been gigging with a Fender Mustang, something like 100W I want to say (though I could be way off- I upgraded from a 90W so I'm just assuming) and I'm disappointed in my decision.

    Modding the sweep actually sounds like an interesting project. I haven't noticed a loss in tone to be honest but if it's not true bypass, I guess you're technically losing something regardless. Experimenting with where in the chain I will put it will be fun too. Obviously towards the beginning, but putting it before/after a compressor can give you the boost you need to override the loss in volume, while still flavoring your end tone.
  7. Do you have any amp suggestions? Someone recommended a Fender Deluxe to me and said that I "wouldn't look back". £600 though - a little bit pricey for me.
  8. (Triple, and I'm sorry for that), but if you guys wouldn't mind shooting me a little feedback over a song I just posted in the Songs thread I'd really appreciate it. Be hard, too, don't just give me the flowery shit to make me feel good. I seriously cranked that sucker out from start to finish- music and lyrics- in roughly a half hour, so I'm open to other interpretations, etc.
  9. Infinite plus for tubes. I'm so much happier playing guitar nowadays with my Peavey Valveking 112. It has 50W. I'm starting to worry a bit about my ears though.

    I was playing out of a Fender Deluxe and it did me fine, but also inspired me to get a pedalboard going because I couldn't stand Fender's stock OD/gain options on the amp. It did have a natural effects knob though, and the flange was insanely nice to my ears.

    I'm not sure what your price range is right now, but any small Vox is a great way to go. The Epiphone Valve Standard is also a nice smaller combo amp, single channel with tubes, good end-point for a pedalboard if you plan on continuing to grow that.

    I'm going for the Valve Junior, the 10W head-only version of that model, put through a cab and mic'd for gigs. I just like the way it sounds and it's little and cheap and pretty.

    Not to be a grandpa but playing with plugs will help your ears actually sort of the frequencies of your output and make you dial in your pedals much more accurately. It was an amazing revelation putting them in during a garage practice where I realized my tone settings for my OD pedal were just wickedly awful sounding. Hard to tell a difference when it's all just slamming you right in the head, but it evens out your sound so much!
