1. If you look at the Wikipedia article for Where the Streets Have No Name, it says:

Some of the Zoo TV performances of the song had a more electronic dance music arrangement that bore a resemblance to the Pet Shop Boys' synthpop cover of the song (titled "Where the Streets Have No Name (I Can't Take My Eyes off You)")

Are there any notable examples of this arrangement being played on the Zoo TV tour?
  2. Wiki isn't always on the money. Possibly Popmart versions?
  3. my guess is they meant popmart. most notably on the drum/muted string section before the ohhhhh bridge, there was kinda dance beat behind larrys snare build.
  4. The sources are apparently old newspaper articles from around 1992-03-11 to 1992-03-14, including an article from a Boston paper.

Therefore, there is one particular show of interest that might include this arrangement: 1992-03-17 in Boston.
  5. I'm downloading it right now.
  6. Huh, other than Bono's voice in the first couple of lines, it's a normal performance.
  7. All well, I guess I'll get around to checking the other performances from that time frame. Meanwhile, I've got a nice bootleg to listen to in full.
  8. Maybe the newspaper called it remixed just because it wasn't the original version? Or perhaps it was another show.
  9. Reviewers often write about stuff they haven't actually heard.
For example, they will write reviews without actually attending the (full) concert.

A telling example was a recent review for a George Michael concert, as that particular concert was cancelled due to George being in hospital. Not only was the reviewer callous enough to write something he couldn't possibly have attended, the newspaper was dumb enough to publish the review for this nonexistent show.

BTW if the article is from 10/3-14/3 it couldn't have been the Boston Show (17/3, st.Partrick's Day), but perhaps the Hartfort (12/3) or Worcester show (13/3).

According to U2gigs, Can't Take my Eyes off You was only snippeted once, at Glastonbury, but never during ZooTV or Popmart.

All the 92 performances are equally awesome, you won't find any remixed standout version of Streets. Believe me.

And I wouldn't call that Boston show a "nice" show... it's a fucking mind-blowing one!!! U2 celebrating St. Patrick's at Boston! What more can you ask for?
  11. Now that I think of it it sounds a bit weird to have the remixed arrangement played only three or four times, especially within the first month of the tour with the band still trying to get the new songs right.

Out of curiosity, I'm still downloading that particular week's shows, and believe me, it's not only for Streets.

I'm not hearing it apart from some slight differences in the synth.organ intro.
