1. I know a ton of people around here would love to see Acrobat, but to be honest I'd like to see So Cruel even more. Something along the same lines of the hershey tapes, or even just Edge and Bono (if he could still pull it off). I have to side with the band on Acrobat in U2byU2, they say about the song that they don't think it's the type of song that people come and see them for, and I somewhat agree. You can't sing along to it, you can't "rock out" to it, and it's not an intimate song or an uplifting song, it's very dark and it's a song meant to be listened to, not seen. That's my opinon, and I know I'll get a ton of backlash for it, but it's how I feel. I love the song, but I don't get why so many want to hear it live. I don't think it'd be a song that would fit well in a given U2 setlist, but then again who knows. I wouldn't be disappointed or anything in hearing it, I'd be ecstatic, but in terms of hearing an AB song that's barely/not been played live, I'd prefer So Cruel.

Besides that, anything off of the 80's albums that hasn't been played since the 80's. That includes songs like
    Trip Through Your Wires
    In God's Country
    Wire
    God Part II
    Seconds
    Exit (especially) etc.
    Rejoice

And if the next is to be their last tour (or whenever their last tour is) I'd love for them to bring out a slew of songs from the early days. Shadows and Tall Trees, Pete The Chop, Another Day, etc. I think these would be the least likely to emerge, but who knows.

Even more I'd love to hear songs never attempted (Heartland, Drowning Man, etc.) and I think on the next tour we'll be hearing a few of those. I think they'll be pleasantly surprised at the U22 list (Zooropa and One Tree Hill) selection of songs, and maybe realize that a lot of their fans want to hear some of the lesser known back catalogue songs.
  2. How about a full electric rendition of In God's Country? Or Exit, complete with a snippet of Van Morrison's Gloria?
  3. Originally posted by RUMMY:A Sort of Homecoming is SO due for a return. Gloria and 11 O'Clock should get some stage time, as should October and Drowning Man.

Is God Part II "old school" enough? If so, they should play it!

If they don't hurry up and get a new album out, Breathe will be old-school.

I would like them to play 2 shows in every city they play in. I may have done a similar post here, so forgive me if I'm repeating myself, but the first show could be a Stadium show with whatever grand tecnical spectrum they wanted, and a setlist with 3 songs from the next album, and 19-21 songs that were either huge hits or staples like Blue Sky, RTSS, etc.

The second show would be in an Arena with just a simple stage, hardly any frills whatsoever, so it could be finacially acceptable to pull off two different shows in a 3 day period...The Rolling Stones did something similar on a small scale years back.

The second show would be just for die-hards, and U2.com members would actually get the best seats at a HUGE discount. Playing arenas of 25,000 or less, idealy in 15,000 average size, and as small as 10,000 to make it truly intimate. Also both the Stadium and Arena shows would all be arranged seating with no Gen Admin...their best fans are getting a bit old to be on their feet all night!

The second show would have a ton of songs rehearsed so there could be a rotation, and it likely wouldn't take too long for them to have a pattern for being able to withstand playing two totally different shows in a 3 day period...the first few weeks would be an adventure...note Bono would need a special implant in his brain to get the lyrics right, if the technology exists(joke)...

What would be the 30-35 odd songs? Just a rough draft...I'm not gonna think this too hard, but you will get my drift...

Acrobat, Daddy's Gonna Pay, Seconds, Please, Last Night Earth, Gone, Red Hill Mining Town, Heartland, Wire, God Part II, Breathe, Being Born with no Fez, Original of the Species, Love Is Blindness, Trip Through Your Wires, Exit, Miami, Do You Feel Loved, Mercy, Spanish Eyes, So Cruel, Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World, Zooropa, Babyface, Lemon(in a lower voice), Your Blue Room, In God's Country, One Tree Hill, Electrical Storm, and 5-8 songs from the new album. They would play the usual 18-24 songs a night out of the final 30 that they rehearsed.

How would this work? Just a quick blueprint of how it would look in the USA...and yes, I'm throwing in a few shows in areas close to me, since it's my HUGE PIPE DREAM...I'm gonna go all the way:

June 1, 2013 Doak Campbell Stadium Tallahassee, FL 85,000
6-3-13 Leon County Civic Center Tallahassee, FL 12,000

6-5-13 Amway Center Orlando, FL 20,000
6-8-13 Citrus Bowl Orlando, FL 70,000

6-11-13 Dolphins Stadium Miami, FL 77,000
6-15-13 American Airlines Arena Miami 20,000

    6-22-13 Carter-Finley Stadium Raleigh, NC 58,000
    6-24-13 RBC Center Raleigh 20,000

What would this tour accomplish? Well, it would be like the 360 tour, and give tons of average fans a way to hear songs like With Or Without You, and would give die hards like us a chance to hear Acrobat, and other lost gems.

Would this work financially? Well, possibly...they would have to really plan out well on how to go from a stadium show to an arena show, or at least consult with whoever engineered the Stones tour where they did something like this...but the arena show would be so stripped down, it wouldn't take too much work...they would have to have some gimmicky advertising where the hardcore U2 fan would have knowledge about it, and keep expenses down to the point where they could afford to have most of the tickets under $75, and perhaps have the bad seats around $15-25 to guarantee a sellout at every single one of the smaller venue shows.

Sadly, this is a PIPE DREAM...I doubt their Management's Cash-Hungry Machine could even possibly fathom this...but the money generated from the Stadium shows would ensure a hefty profit. They could pull it off, but chances are better that I write a number one record for some singer on American Idol. (I'm not a bad songwriter, but that is almost as much as a Pipe Dream as getting the hardcore arena shows!!!)
  4. Yeah, that^ would never happen, although it would be kinda neat. Plus, if they came out saying "the 2nd night is for die-hards only" there's a chance that those nights might not even sell out. I like to think they would, out of sheer curiousity, but people also might think "well if they're not playing BD or Streets what's the point?". I don't really care about a sell-out but you have to know they do.

I think if we consider a decent marketing campaign making it clear that the second night is going to be album cuts, and making the tickets a little cheaper, we could expect sellouts. I think a lot of people out there would just be happy to get a chance to see U2. The Stadium show would be a sellout, and anybody within 100 miles of the show would likely want in...especially at bargain prices.

I think the pricing structure for the average 15,000 seat arena would have to be something like this to make a profit:

1000 U2.com tickets: $30, best seats in the house
1000 of the next best seats $50
    5000 at $35
    4000 at $25
    4000 at $20

This would be enough to justify it...not the huge profit a greatest hits show would provide, but coupled with the GH Show in Stadiums, they would still realistically approach the same level of profit they had on 360, especially if they went with an extravagent show, but not quite as big or expensive as the Claw. Still, it would be a huge pipe dream, but I'd like all my favorite artists to do this...after buying From The Sky Down twice, and the Sydney DVD twice, it would be nice for them to make a good gesture towards die hard and casual fans alike....I think some casual fans would like to see the other side of U2...

  6. Far out we have some people who absolutely fall into this category of people, and not much else.

Not sure what category you mean, but the whole point of posts is to write comedy and entertainment, with a little seriousness thrown in for fun. I probably used the term "pipe dream," in my post at least 3 times or more, which kind of speaks for itself. As for the other posters before me, some of the choices could come true, but many will not be played live. I simply expanded the idea by creating a two show per city idea. Hell, it would probably be a pipe dream for me to hope that somebody involved with U2 got wind of my idea. Yeah....U2's janitor likely has a 1 in 400,000 shot of reading this post. Do they even have a janitor?
  8. I'm just pretty sure that U2 are way too big to ever really be able to do any of this..
  9. But I would love for all of it to come true
