1. No harm done if it’s only to add to the collection and not take advantage of others by selling on for ridiculous amounts. Better that than not pre-ordering then having to pay over the odds on somewhere like ebay when the shops sell out. I won’t be getting anything though as I haven’t really started a vinyl collection yet except the JT singles i got with my u2 subscription.
  2. Very excited for this. I've had a lot of luck at my local record store getting the RSD releases.

I stand corrected. Good day sir.
  4. You don't pre order unless you know the record store owner! Then you 'pre order'!! And they suddenly get put away for you to pick up at a reasonable time of day.
I won't be queuing overnight. Not with the custom I bring my source throughout the year and the amount I actually buy on RSD. Same for tickets!

    Absolutely spot on!
I've seen myself first in the queue at many record shops over the years and waiting patiently overnight with my chair and sleeping bag/thermals. Meeting other vinyl addicts in the line which passes away many a great hour of music banter.
Now that work/clients demand my time on weekends I am not always able to get what I want so I have sourced very well to compensate being ripped off.
What I always disliked about RSD were those who clearly purchased on the day and then sold them at inflated prices to clearly rip people off. That is not what RSD is about and is the only drawback. People clearly on the take at the cost of others.
This record collection of mine is absolutely massive and I have worked hard to earn the money to grant me this pleasure without some low-life coming along and hawking up the prices on what are often some costly items anyway.

as they say, membership has its privileges. most stores probably wouldnt allow you to grab that many items even if ya could snatch them before someone else. to some stores, that may be more than are even shipped! heck, if its my shop, and you're gonna guarantee me you show up with the filthy lucre, its all yours! you're supporting my shop and i'm selling it all... thats the point!

p..s - i'm jealous. i'll be on vacation for rsd to a quaint little town with no record store within 50 miles...

Here in the UK the policy is that if you have your list ready and present it to the seller, and if they have the stock, you can have one copy of each title. There are no restrictions on how many different titles you want to purchase just as long as it is one copy only. In previous years my lists have been possibly double the size of what I want this year and I have never been refused.
