This Promo is for actual radio broadcast CDs of portions from live concerts performed by U2 on September 23rd, 1997 at the Kosovo Stadium in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina (east of Italy across the Adriatic Sea), and in 1983 in London, ENG. The recordings are excellent. The performances are split into 6 broadcast segments, 5 of which contain commercials at the end. This show was broadcast the weekend of December 19th - 20th, 1998 (#98-51).
The 1997 show is U2 on the 2nd leg of their PopMart Tour in Europe. This show is historic in the fact that U2 was the first major band to play Sarajevo since the Bosnian War, which ended in late '95. You get 5 songs from their most recent album at the time, Pop, as well as "I Will Follow", "All I Want Is You", and "Bullet The Blue Sky".
The 1983 show was recorded by the BBC, right before the release of their album War , featuring songs from their first 3 albums. It's recorded in front of a much smaller audience and is extremely intimate-sounding, with a little bit of reverb added to Bono's vocals.
NOTE: These CDs are NOT BOOTLEGS . These are the actual CDs sent to a radio station for broadcast.
NOTE: The 1997 recording has the ambience and reverb of a large arena, complete with crowd noise between songs. This really just makes the performance sound 'huge'; all of the individual instruments & vocals are all well-recorded and placed appropriately in the mix
