1. He has bundled all the issues with modern live music and fanbases. Fallon could not have put it any better.
  2. He sounds like a bit of a pussy
  3. Read this last night around 2 am when he posted it... according to various stories around the twittersphere people were cheering "BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE" during the encore, which must have been exceedingly more obnoxious than at other points of his career that I can think of. I've seen many a video of Brian having random spats with the crowd, and even have witnessed a crowd at one the shows I went to strike up a bad conversation with him (he was in Washington and was saying how he was a NY Giants football fan, the Giants played against the Washington Redskins that same night). But apparently this must have put all of the other times over the top. One woman's tweet I came across while looking into what happened said that she was "ashamed to have been a part of the crowd tonight."

Regardless of what happened, Brian's right. The comparisons should stop and people need to recognize that they are The Gaslight Anthem, not a Springsteen or any other bands cover band, and they play their music, which a lot of people think is damn good music. They play covers because they want to, not because you want them to.

Besides, If you aren't going to go listen to a band to listen to their own music but someone else's song, what are you doing at the show in the first place?

EDIT: While I stand by everything I said earlier, Brian said he wanted to play a Lady Gaga song last night. Lady. Gaga. That's when the whole BRUCE turmoil began apparently. 4. Anyone who even slightly considers themselves a rock band should fuck off if they want to cover a Gaga song. If I were in the crowd I would have been livid if he said that. No wonder they started to fuck with him.
  5. Upon more investigation, here is something else I found. After playing American Slang with Dave Hause the day before the incident occurred, the band had some downtime apparently midset for Brian to banter... then this happened (video of Howl included) :

So I guess he decided that maybe he could play that at a show for fun after all? Who knows....
  6. many shareable points there .. honest guy .. liked him a lot and this confirmed it
  7. Well, he definitely has got a point. I think it must be pretty annoying to have a significant part of your audience requesting you to cover someone that you might or you might not be keen to cover.

That being said, the whole text looked a little pretentious to me

  8. great cover, love how they always throw these fun little tracks in.
  9. ah dear old Ramones
  10. ^ i wouldn't mind hearing it if/when you have the time!
