1. Happy New Year

    Cheers
  2. WOW!!! It sounds really dark, how did you do that? Is it one of those "major > minor key" conversions? It lacks some realism when Bono's vocals kick in but it's still surprising
  3. Weird! But good!
I didn't know you could do that to vocals... dark and atmospheric.

  4. Yeah, it's been done to many songs... Both passing from dark songs to shiny, happy ones (minor to major key swift), and viceversa (major to minor, like this version of Streets).

You can see an example (REM's Losing My Religion reworked to major key) here: www.u2start.com/topic/by-post/528911/ or another one (Europe's Final Countdown in major) here: http://www.u2start.com/topic/by-post/549519/

It sounds interesting for Streets, kudos to the opening poster (and welcome to the forum ).
  5. wow, this sounds really great!! well done
  6. Thanks for the positive response.... so far

Yes, I'm using a realtime (multiple) pitch change plugin

But, I'm doing a bit more than major->minor here.,... I LOVE modes (wiki that)

The software has certain limitations that cause the vocal weirdness

As an aside, I am developing my own software to avoid this.... Wish me luck with that (It's only the toughest thing under the sun)
  7. Wow, developing an own proper software is really something! Good luck on it

I assume you're a music player yourself... Which mode are you doing this in? I noticed there was more than just a swift to minor key, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
  8. Believe it or not.... Mixolydian, with a minor feel cos' the center is not the root

I USED to play.... My fingers would not handle a guitar these days... LOL

I'm a longtime composer (just for fun), programmer in real life

I have music in my veins instead of blood

There are many more examples on my YouTube and if you look hard enuff you can hear my crappy original stuff..... hehe

    Cheers
  9. i like it ! good work !

Very clever use of the non-centered root chord for the mixolydian mode!!
  11. Thanks guys

I just upped Mazzy Star - Fade Into You

Not sure I could ever make that one "happy"..... LOL
  12. Btw, why I say it's Mixolydian is cos' in my verz, it dosen't resolve on the Dm

In the original it definitely resolves on the D Major

The net effect on my mix is that "weirdness" is created during the verses cos' it's like the melody is unresolved or suspended in mid-air

You can here it resolve once you get to the start of the chorus (on the C), which is the root of the mode.....

Epppppp, sorry got too nerdy there hehe
