Tell us something about yourself, who are you and what do you do for a living?
my name is eric and i live in the netherlands in Doetinchem and for a living i do telecommunications
but at the moment i`m unemployed .i`m married and have 2 kids and a lovely wife
have also a dog and three cats i`m also a national Guard in the dutch army.
was in the dutch army for over 10 years as a technical specialist
i went twice on a mission in bosnie and kosovo for my duty.
after that i was looking for an new job and found a job in the telecomminications i`ve
work for big companies like KPN, Vodafone, Tele-2 and other companies.i also make
radio jingles in for a friend of mine he`s a DJ on a internetradio station
How did you become a fan of U2, tell us how it happened?
how did i became a fan of U2 good question.i was at a friend who had a record of
the joshua tree that was in 1987.and i ask him who are those guys and he said that`s U2
i listened and i like the music very much and that`s how i became a U2 fan
In your opinion, what has been U2's defining moment and why?
i don`t realy know what the defining moment is why i became a fan of them.just great music
that`s speaks to you and great lyrics.there are some song that have certain meaning to me
like MISS SARAJEVO.(i`ve been there during the war in bosnie) and ONE (that`s the song where
i met my the love of my life and married here) ,SOMETIMES YOU CAN`T MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN the
title says it all i think and some more song are special for me
We notice that you have quite the bootleg collection and share a lot with the U2 community which is great. What is your opinion on bootleg sharing?
mine opinion on bootlegs, if your a fan of a certain rockband/group
and your a big fan you just want to have everything i think
bootlegs are a great contribution to the real fan and sharing your music to
others is what everybody must do to.eventually where al fans of the same band
and mine collection is big so if i find something new i`ll share it with my others fans
What does your U2 collection look like? What kind of stuff do you have and how is it organised?
the collection i have is mainly vinyl records and music cassettes,VHS tapes (all orginal tapes
some of them are still wrapped in there orginal package),books and DVD`s but the vinyl collection
is where i`m most proud of because there are some that are from other countries so i have maybe
5 to 6 diffent LP of the same album. there are calendars from each year, coffe mugs and my hard drive is
overloaded with U2.it`s pretty good organised and spending many times at record fairs
for new stuff.
In a house fire, which one of your U2 items would you save?
haha, the most precious item of them of course.but the most precious things i want to save
is of course my famile and the animals.other things you can replace but not the lives of
your loved ones
Does anyone in your family or one of your friends like U2? If so, did they introduce you to U2, or did you "convert" them?
almost everybody likes/loves U2 in my family especially my wife, my childeren they have grown up with it
they know almost every song .some friends of mine they like some songs but not everything ,but most of the family
has no problem with it.
What is your favorite U2 bootleg, and why?
favorite U2 Bootleg there`s not really a favorite one
i can`t not think of which one i like really
How different is U2 compared to other artists that you like?
to be honest difficult question, i think that`s ??...different than othet artists?.
you must appreciate the music they make, and there just good.every time they make a
new album the style is differently then there last album. with other bands it`s a little bit
the same sound if you hear them then you know who it is ,with U2 it`s always geussing
is that them or what.there albums are not always the same qua sound.
What are your hobbies and interests away from U2, musical or otherwise?
already told that i make radio jingles for internetradio stations that`s just
a nice thing to do in my free time .My musical interest is very big it`s not only U2.
love almost every music style that`s on the radio.i have also a big CD collection
it`s about 500 CD`s and on my hard drive about 4 Gig of music
doing modeling of WWII vehicles/aeroplanes trying to make them realistic as possible
it takes a lot of time but love to do it.and watching movies.playing games on the XBOX,
behind the computer playing games.
