4 source mixdown by DanysNet // U2media.de (sparko)

I created this mix first of all for my own pleasure and a friend, who saw the show with me. There are many good recordings but as this was "my" 360 show, I wanted a bit more. So I decided to give this a try. This is personal as I just wanted to create a special memory for myself originally.

I took all sources in 16/44 flac, as they were downloaded from U2torrents.

    Sources are recordings by:

    1. alysha (Neumann KM140's > AETA PSP3 > Edirol R09HR > HarBal 2.3)
    2. bedoc (SP-CMC-4 > SP-SPSB-1 Battery Box @107HZ > Olympus LS-10)
    3. Stadtfelder (Coresound Stealthy Cardioids > Sony TCD D 7 DAT @ 32khz > Terratec EWX )
    4. ribspreader (Zoom H2)

I did not use the GFR release, as this is supposedly one of the other sources and already "remastered". I did also not use the Adam IEM as it was incomplete and also left achtung_baby01 out, as it appeared being TOO MUCH with it.

In the final mix I wanted a better audience atmosphere, cleaner guitar sound and straighter drums. Also I wanted to reduce the rattling on tracks like Glastonbury to get clearer vocals.

I mixed all tracks with Adobe Audition CC and tried to get the best from each recording to get a full sound. There was quite some EQ'ing, cleaning and cutting and I can say I am very pleased with the result. So I decided to share it with you.

Many thanks to alysha, bedoc, Stadtfelder and ribspreader for sharing their recordings and generously allowing me to share this mix.
Special shout out to ollideta for help

  2. Matrix of FOUR audience sources? I wonder how it sounds. Thanks for the upload Eric!

Edit. And one of them is a recording done with just a recorder, without using external mics... Huh. These recordings sound fine on their own but I don't think it can add much to a matrix with proffesional mics like KM140s. I will give this one a try anyway.
  3. Thanks
  4. Thanks a lot. Great sound.
  5. A Frankfurt, with the improvised start of New Years Day

    My thoughts exactly...

More does not equal better. I bet a careful cleanup of the best source, MAYBE adding in a secondary source if it adds to the sound, would yield better results.
  8. it's eric's choice, he's the one with all the versions, he feels it is worthy of inclusion/useful to the overall mix. end of.
