1. It seems it's been a SUPERB choice, Alvin. Congratulations
  2. Yeah, looks like... I was expecting some positive reviews, but this is beyond expectations. Nick Cave is very underrated artist...
  3. Let Love In has made me start looking for more Nick Cave albums. Thanks Alvin!!!
  4. I listen just once ...and i have to say that i like it very much

I didn t know the band. I felt the darkness and i like the voice of the singer

    Top three tracks:
    1. Nobody's Baby Now
    2. Lay Me Low
    3. Aint Gonna Rain Anymore

    Rating: 8.5 out of 10
  5. Glad to see I still got time to listen to the last week album.

By the end of first listen, I wasn't that excited about the album, maybe because it's very different from everything I've been listening to recently. It sounded weird, but the lyrics really caught my attention, so I decided to give it another chance.

So now, here I am telling you this is a very good album (of course you already know it by this time).

Lyrically, the album is perfect. Some deep and dark sentences on every single song. Really nice!

Musically, the hole album is very brutal. There's no unnecessary sounds. You hear just what is needed to put that message in your head. It's all very raw and simple, but in a good way.

So, basically, this combination results in a very strong and consistent album that doesn't have a bad song on it.

My favorites: Nobody's Baby Now, I Let Love In, Lay Me Low.
  6. Finally listening to this album. This is a damn interesting one for sure.
  7. Just listened to it again. My opinion hasn't changed, it's a solid album. Love the pace of Thirsty Dog.
  8. I apologize greatly for the down time my friends- work got the better of me this week, it seems. But without further ado, a pick from one of our lesser known board members- LikeASong (I believe his name is Sergio)

    Jamiroquai - A Funk Odyssey

    1. Feel So Good
    2. Little L
    3. You Give Me Something
    4. Corner of the Earth
    5. Love Foolosophy
    6. Stop Don't Panic
    7. Black Crow
    8. Main Vein
    9. Twenty Zero One
    10. Picture of My Life

This selection comes with an introduction from the chooser-

Of course I could have chosen something by my favourite bands (Muse, The Killers, The Police/Sting -I admit I was on the verge of choosing The Dream Of The Blue Turtles-, maybe Arctic Monkeys or Dire Straits), but that would have been too predictable, and I thought I would choose something that would depart a bit from what we've been listening to in this thread.

So here is it, A Funk Oddysey, the album where Jay Kay and his phenomenal band signed a departure from their classical acid-jazz sound, and step into a new terrain... Something described by a critic as "The perfect mixtape to snap your fingers to on your way to another universe". I can't help but agreeing. It's one of my favourite albums ever, and one of its songs has made it into both my 2011 and 2013 Toplists, so I hope you like it

Note: There are bonus tracks on different existing versions of this album, but what is listed are the original tracks. Feel free to listen to whatever version you please
  9. I listened to this twice already yesterday - once in the morning when I acquired the album, and once on my drive into the city before a gig (I must say, it put me in the mood!)

I can't get over how groovy it is. I swear I've heard "Corner of the Earth" before but I can't place where from...

The rest is just such great music. I'm familiar with some of the more popular songs like "Canned Heat" etc., but never really explored this band. So glad to have this in my collection now - it will get a lot of replay.

Maybe a more detailed breakdown coming soon.
  10. I really love this album! It'll a pleasure to share opinions about it with you, guys

That's precisely the song that made it into my toplists On positions #8 ( http://u2start.com/topic/by-post/447581/ ) and #17 ( http://u2start.com/topic/by-post/546466/ ) respectively. By far my favourite Jamiroquai song, it's just lirically and musically brilliant.. And yeah, it's been used in commercials and stuff.
  12. I feel like I heard it sampled in something.

    The world may never know.

The album opener, and also "Love Foolosophy" have been my jams.
