Glad you're enjoying. While I love the album all the way through, Aura, Ripple and Mistress are my 3 standout tracks...

Pink Floyd and The Cure on a lot of heroin!
  5. This thread came and went quickly. You whippersnappers all have short attention spans!
  6. Sting - Ten Summoner's Tales

This album starts off well with If I Ever Lose My Faith in You. As Sergio says, a simple song, with a fairly straightforward meaning. Quite a catchy little number. Love Is Stronger Than Justice, well I'll pick up on Sergio's analysis of the time signature for this one. I have no ear for this, but I do really like the choruses. I found this quote from Sting, that Sergio may or may not have read, while listening to the album: "It started when I was writing this piece in 7/8 time. Which is actually, one of my favourite time signatures, because it's like a bar of four, then a waltz, a bar of a waltz, and then - it sort of catches up with itself. Very quirky. I, I just love it. So, I thought, well, there has to be some reason to write in 7/8, y'know?". Quite a cool song though, I like it. Moving on to Fields of Gold, the only song I already knew from this album. It's a beautiful song. Quite bittersweet as Sergio says. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling Heavy Cloud No Rain, so we'll just move onto the much more impressionable She's Too Good For Me. That was a real bolt from the blue, love it.

Is Seven Days Sting's version of The Cure's Friday I'm In Love? They even feature very similar lyrics "Saturday could wait, but Sunday'd be too late" vs "Saturday wait, and Sunday always comes too late". And then there's the Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic lyric at the end. Still, I like it. Saint Augustine In Hell is a little weird, with that little break in the middle...anyway, I'm not really into this one. I do like the brass instrumentation on It's Probably Me, but again, I'm not really feeling this one. Everybody Laughed But You is ok, it comes complete with another little break in the middle of the song. I see your game now, Mr. Sting. Shape Of My Heart appears to be a very clever song. I'm not sure I agree with Sergio's interpretation of this, I think it's more abstract than that. Very nice song, I really like the overall sound of this one. Now, Something The Boy Said was quite forgettable for me, but thankfully we close with Nothing 'Bout Me. This is right up my street, what an upbeat ending to the album. Definitely has a jazzy feel to it.

    Top tracks:
    Fields of Gold
    She's Too Good For Me
    Seven Days

Overall rating: 6 out of 10

  9. Well, nobody posted a review for The Church yet It would be rude to ignore it.

    Feel like mentioning me?
Nice review (good point about Seven Days and Friday I'm In Love, never realized it before ) and nice resurrection of this thread. I still have to post the review of the last album... Some day, some day!
