1. I like second part of Instant Street, first part is like some kind of tramp song
    I'll post review tomorrow.
  2. I agree with most so far regarding Real Sugar. I've listened to the album three times now, some definite highlights for sure but there's almost equal amounts that just aren't clicking for me. I'll post up something resembling a review at the weekend.
  3. "7 Days, 7 Weeks" is a good track
  4. First listen right now
  5. i like Include Me Out and Nothing Really Ends
  6. First time I've heard about dEUS was in 1994 and the song was Suds and Soda. If you are 25+, you probably noticed that, was popular those days... it was in Beavis and Butthead too (fried egg ).
Then I didn't hear about them until about 1 year ago. And it was thanks to Karin Dreijer Andersson (The Knife, Fever Ray, some songs with Royksopp). Triangle Walks by Fever Ray was played at 2009 360°tour between support acts and U2 show by PA and I'm Fever Ray fan since then.So I foud song Slow by dEUS with Karin and I loved it, then whole album (Vantage Point which includes big hit The Architect). And I started to love them.
I didn't pay the attention for this album for a while, but I was listening some bootlegs and songs like Bad Timing, If You Don't Get What You Want were among the highlights of those shows.
It is first album after short (6 years) break, some personal changes and the first (and the last so far) compilation album.

-Bad Timing - amazing song to open album and it would have worked great as closer too. Could have been longer! Amazing building of thist track - from quiet thrilling to rock climax
-7 Days, 7 Weeks - slowing after first track, not my style
-Start Stop Nature - a little dirty track with great bass (and industrial background)
-If You Don't Get What You Want - classic dEUS rock song, starts slowly but became harder at second part. One of the Top tracks
-What We talk About (When We Talk About Love) - dancey song which contrasts with previous rock or slow songs. Cool (yeah, the only word what goes on my mind lol).
-Include Me Out - a little rest after previous rock/dancing part. Not bad but not my cup of coffee
-Pocket Revolution - title track with great bluesy/gospel chorus but a little boring verses. Would've been better if the verses are jus instrumental, music is nice.
-Night Shopping - sounds a little bit like Kasabian, rock of 21st century, love it
-Cold Sun Of Circumstance - rock song with grunge feel, love the guitars on this one. Song about devil?
-The Real Sugar - classic dEUS slow song - a little reminds me of nice summer day
-Sun Ra - another great rock song and album closer for me. Love the lyrics.
-Nothing Really Ends - I don't count this as part of this album, because it was recorded in 2001 for compilation album "No More Loud Music". And it is not my favourite song - nice but forgettable.

Pocket Revolution is album with great rock nad alternative tracks, not fan of slow tracks here. But in overal it is great album, one of their best.
    8,5/10

hahaha, man, we virtually only agree on the opening track and If You Don't Get... Nice review anyway. I didn't know about Nothing Really Edns being part of the compilation, thanks for that info!
  8. You forget Cold Sun... even if you can hear Radiohead in there and for me it is grunge
  9. Great, I've just sat here writing my thoughts whilst listening to the album and U2start decides to cock up again and post absolutely nothing when I click submit. Not the first time it's happened to me on here and it probably won't be the last.

I'm not going to try and remember everything I wrote, I'll just summarise. Sorry Bart, I did put more effort into it the first time around. This was my first time listening to dEUS and I'm glad it was a full album experience instead of just a few odd songs. The album is mainly good. There are some stand out tracks that I'll happily revisit in the future. There are some tracks however that I couldn't get into at all, despite numerous listens (Stop-Start Nature, Nightshopping, and Sun Ra). Other than my top three below, I'd like to mention The Real Sugar, Include Me Out and Cold Sun of Circumstance. I felt myself drawn a lot towards their softer stuff, which would've been clear in my first review

    Top three tracks:
    1. Bad Timing
    2. Nothing Really Ends
    3. If You Don't Get What You Want

    Rating: 6.5 out of 10
  10. I meant to review last night, unfortunately I was so damned tired I couldn't even be bothered - just managed to get home half-awake.

    I'll put a review tonight.
  11. My review will be posted this evening as well as next week's selection from Kieran!
  12. I haven't had time to listen to it as I'm currently in Brighton for a festival, however I will post it tomorrow night.
