1. The important thing I took from this track is that Edge can take the chorus, so that pretty much confirms that this song will be performed live and may occasionally feature Lykke Li. Also, I much prefer this ending to the fade out we had before.

  2. They've been using that line since When I Look At The World, don't be surprised to see it again later

  3. Exactly. Not really a fan of this version, the alternate lyrics sound clumsy. Album version is superb, so no need to worry.
  4. I almost like the "somebody stopped the world I know" a little bit better?

  5. Don't like it that much either, compared to the original.
  6. Wish Bono sang the original lines of Lykke Li.
  7. The alternate Troubles is likely an early version. I'm glad they went back to the drawing board, listened to DangerMouse and brought in Lykke Li. Much improved on the album version, easily one of the highlights.

Agreed with the fact Edge can take it, but I'm not sure it will surface.
  9. Sort of processing my own "Troubles" in this period in life.
Both versions bring tears to my eyes as a comfort.
Again U2 is composing the music score of my days. They've been doing this for the last 34 years!!

That's what I like about this band.

I'm not a fan of the majority of this album, but from time to time, some songs can touch me so deep no other band or artist can.

And I don't know you, so I know it'll sound lame, but I really hope your troubles will be over or figured out soon. Take care stranger.
  11. After listening to this song for a while, I get the feeling that this is a more polished and developed version of Moment of Surrender. Hear me out for a bit.

Lyrically, the two songs carry similar themes with both talking about struggles and in some ways submission. The key differences are in perspective. MoS takes the 1st person perspective (at the moment of surrender, I folded to my knees) while The Troubles takes a second person perspective (you think it's easier). Musically, the two songs have a similar feel to them, but The Troubles feels more developed than MoS

And as many people have noted, this song (and most of the album) encapsulates a particular feeling that can be easily related to.

    Agreed.

(I know it's too old to notice, ahn1991)

    A very slow grower actually.
