1. To be honest though, I don't see myself getting sick of Beautiful Day. It just works really well live and I have to be bored of it.
  2. I like Walk on, WOWY, Bad etc very much.

But I am disappointed in the way U2 played this songs always on the same way on the automatic pilot.

They can do a lot more with these songs, extra long versions, orchestra on stage etc etc.
  3. Tonight I dreamt about the tracklist of "Songs of Experience":
I wonder if some of it turns out to be true....

    1. Beautiful Ghost (Introduction to songs of experience)
(rock version: the track starting with a long, ruthless guitarsolo-intro to silence all the "where was Edge on SOI?" - moaning..., then parts of the poem, followed by more guitar)
    2. Invisible.
(not the synth-heavy version we know, but a dirty, goosebumpy acoustic version).
    3. new song
    4. new song
    5. new song
    6. Dreaming it all up again.
    7. Red
    8. new song
    9. new song
    10. new song
    11. North Star (full force guitar version with long outro chorus, a cross between Love is Blindness and 40)

I hope you meant BD and not Bad

I'm sick of everything they play of ATYCLB. Maybe other songs work, but BD, Elevation, Walk On and Stuck all had their moment, now it's time to drop them.

And don't get me started on In A Little While

I think the "problem" with these songs is that the band probably feels they brought the back from the brink of irrelevance back in 2000/2001. They were under a bit of scrutiny back then after Flop - I mean Pop - and I would propose that they think these songs are an important part of their history and should not be forgotten.

I personally have mixed feeling about the above group of songs but one thing for sure is that I wish they'd play Kite more often.

    Underrated, unfortunately
  8. ok, guys, I don't want to nag or complain, but..... isn't this topic supposed to be about 'Songs of Experience'?

on topic: anybody else expecting Invisible to be track 2 on SoE?

  9. Usually track 2 is intended to be a big leading single (Pride, Still haven't found, Even better, Stuck, Magnificent, EBW). But Invisible is kind of burned in this respect (and, while a really good song, I wonder whether it'd be a really successful single).

We tend to get offtopic easily

I don't expect Invisible to be on any of the new albums. Maybe they play it live, but I think we won't hear it on the albums.
  11. I can see your point!
so not track 2, but I still think a complete rework (acoustic, singer songwriter-style) could work for this song.

I think 11 songs in total is pretty sure though...

Maybe track 2 will be a reworked North Star, just like it happened with EBW. I agree about Invisible out of SOE. Thematically, it belongs to Innocence. Just make a playlist with Invisible + SOI and there you go.
