Exactly! That's what separates U2 from the rest. They try not to regurgitate the same shit in different packaging even though history would dictate people would eat up the shit anyway (see Aerosmith)
When AB came out people were pissed it was TJT Volume 2.
It's kind of how every U2 album has gone, at least since TUF. Perhaps since AB the change from album to album has been nowhere near as radical or intentional as the change between TJT > AB, but you can be sure they set out to make each album have its own vibe that is different to that which has gone before. I do think that's possibly partially why each album takes awhile these days is that they perhaps have to work quite hard to ensure each album is not a part 2 of anything thats gone before.
