1. It certainly wasn't bad. Bono's voice is getting much more consistent now.
  2. Loved it!
  3. Wait, how did this become different ? I can't imagine they've played it twice and first broadcast the bad version and later the good one...
But I also can't imagine they could edit/polished everything. Like in EBW, on tuesday Bono got the "We know that we fear to win" line wrong, but now it's ok ?
So, did they come back to do it again ?

    Friday :

  4. Anyway, the friday version is just PERFECT imo. They found it.
Makes so much difference when Bono is top notch.
I thought California was sung very good as well.
  5. Bono is learning his way with these songs. Yes, California was indeed quite good
  6. Wow, nice performance of EBW. I call the Pitchfork critics to point us to a band that can match that. Wankers.
  7. I'm not a great fan of California or Volcano, but I think they're working better live than the "big tunes"...The miracle just seemed incomplete to me
  8. My best of promo tour playlist:

    1. The Miracle (of Joey Ramone) on Jo Whiley 15-10-2014
    2. California (There Is No End To Love) on Jools Holland 21-10-2014
    3. Every Breaking Wave on Jo Whiley 15-10-2014
    4. Volcano on Jools Holland 21-10-2014
    5. Cedarwood Road on Jo Whiley 15-10-2014
    6. Song For Someone on Graham Norton 17-10-2014
  9. California was unreal minus the loss of the dope intro and the synth in the chorus. My guess is Lawless will provide those on the tour though.

But man..I think the final chorus in California is one of the greatest pieces of music U2 has done for whatever reason. The:

"We come and gooooo, stolen days you don't give back, stolen days are just enough". It's one of those moments that gives me goosebumps everytime because it's just so melodic and perfect. The Edge and Bono harmonizing on top of the chords is just like BAM. To give another example of what I mean (besides the obvious ones like the Streets intro) is the bridge in I Fall Down. There's a moment when everything stops and it's just Edge and Larry on high-hats, then everything slowly comes in with Bono and piano. Just so fuckin' great.
  10. What a great performance!!
California blew my mind. And the lack of intro makes it perfect. Hopefully they keep this arrangement
