  8. I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill, I for one wouldn't mind a 5min speech in a 2hr+ concert, that reminds people that not everyone in the world is as lucky as they are.

    You have to remember that not everyone who goes to a U2 concert is a hardcore fan, and have heard his 'preaching' before.

    The fact that Bono puts so much into his humanitarian efforts is highly commendably and is a point of difference between all the other bands out there. While it may not be cool, it makes me proud to be a U2 fan.

    U2 would not be U2 without the activism, and Bono would definitely not be Bono, as Drew Carey points out:

    "Do you want to see my wristband? It says, 'What would Bono do?' He's like Christ, I'm telling you. He's like Christ and Bob Dylan rolled into one."

    Anyway by far my biggest gripe with Bono, is the deterioration in his voice during the past two tours.

    Apparently this is due to his smoking.
    I fail to understand why Bono who is one of the greatest singers of all time, continues to smoke, doesn't he know what smoking will do to his voice, and his health?

    agree ! !!!! But didn't he stop smoking a couple years ago???
  10. I don't know, I read a topic somewhere (interference perhaps) that he still smokes a lot.

    Can anyone confirm? I don't want Bono to go the way of singers like Axl Rose..
  11. Yeah he still does, as does Edge and Larry. Adam quit a while back. Thing is with Bono, I remember a quote from U2 by U2 where he talks about when he started smoking and how he partially smoked because he liked what it was doing to his voice...strange stuff.

    Anyone else find it a bit strange/ironic that Adam doesn't smoke, but the rest of the band including the Edge do?

    And how much does Bono smoke, is he a pack a day smoker?
