Exactly, the version on the album was recorded live on MSG, but I've heard the rendition of the film is from two days before, on 26th September, when U2 arrived to New York for the rehearsals on MSG etc.
Of course my accuracy is not 100%.... , but that's what I heard (from the lips of some important trader).

Had you been born before 1987, you probably wouldn't know this forum...
  7. even if you were born earlier you probably wouldn't have the magical foresight to know which shows were going to be included in the film
  8. Originally posted by u2met86First of all, Denver 1987-11-08 was recorded & played back WAAAYYYYY too fast! Bono sounds like a chipmunk! It is SO speeded up that the songs are a full step (two notes) higher in pitch than they should be. It's actually difficult to listen to.

I agree with you. Rattle and Hum is too high and toooooooooooo fast!

But you are not right at all. Rattle and Hum is a half step to high and too fast.

But you can take the rips from the DVD and use Wavelab to transpose them down. This brings the songs also back to their original tempo.

    It´s great, really great!
  9. The bootleg tape of 1987/11/08 Denver, the one available here on U2Start (and probably in circulation) is a full step too high / fast.

Your Rattle And Hum DVD is 1/2 step too fast? Perhaps you live in an area with PAL version discs? I live in USA w/ NTSC discs so my copy of R&H plays back at normal pitch / speed. I know NTSC and PAL are quite different in terms of frames per second, that's probably why.

Hi man, here's another trick for All Along the Watchtower: The beginning is also edited. The Rattle and Hum version includes some drum-roll (just a few) which you can't catch in neiher the bootleg or the video. Adam and Edge tunning-test is a little diffent too. I wonder why they took time to edit these details.

Also, the speech in Silver and Gold, lasts longer in film than in the oficial record. They edited out a few second before the solo.

During many years the With or Without You version of the film was claimed to be filmed in no concert. That theory came from the fact that there are no shots on the audience during the song, and the only time the camera turns into them, the whole stadium is in the dark. I don't know, it's just a rumour, but it makes sense if they took time to edit all those details you mention, didn't it?

Because you're lucky! In those years the world was nothing but sorrow and pain if you wanted to get a bootleg, forget about to find them free. They were aprox. 4 times the value of a regular record prize, and you never knew how good or bad the recording could be.

The saints bless the Net and Remy too.
