hey there that was me going along with macstripey!

I'll skip how awful it was to stand in the rain for hours, not something I'd want to repeat but in the end it was worth it and all pain and hunger was forgotten when bono and edge came out of the studios!

when everyone was looking at bono's car driving out of the garage, I kept my eyes fixed on the studio doors, which opened suddenly and out came a man I've seen on dvds/tv shows and a million pictures before - it was a strange feeling, really. not unpleasant, but just strange.

    he looked so small!
I mean, I know he's not the biggest man walking on this planet but still.. it surprised me how small and slender he looked. even a little fragile, but I guess that was because he was really tired.

when he stepped out of the door and peeked around the corner he held his jacket closed with one hand like on so many pictures I've seen before. it felt so surreal to see it in rl, but amazing nevertheless.

unfortunately, I wasn't reacting at all when he walked out.
I could've been the first to shake his hand, but my legs wouldn't move
I just stood there while everyone rushed past me to shake his hand.. when I finally did go over I heard him say that he was tired, so I didn't try to squeeze myself through and grab his hand. I just kept looking at him, trying to save the moment in my mind.

after he and most of the fans left I have to say I was really sad,
because I realized I didn't get a handshake like everyone else and it's been pretty much my fault because I didn't move! I wanted to go home already then, not knowing when edge'd come out and I was so exhausted I couldn't have waited there for another hour.
and besides, I didn't want this to be repeated.. edge coming out and me not daring to go to him and shake his hand like it happened when bono came out, so I wanted to go, but suddenly the garage opened again and edge's audi came slowly driving down the street and stopped right where I stood.

if macstripey hadn't pushed me in the back I'd have stood there still
sam told us to come around the car, like macstripey told you already, and when I went around and saw edge smiling at me and stretching out his arm for a handshake I was damn amazed by those bright eyes. this is no silly fangirling here, guys, that man got the most catching eyes ever I just couldn't look away and was forever grateful when he signed my little picture (I didn't have anything special with me for him to sign, because I wasn't expecting this to happen! I had this little edge picture with me though, which you get when buying the music rising shirt, by pure chance! it was not in best shape anymore after 13 hours in the rain and I apologized for its smallness and it being bent. he looked fairly amused though and signed it carefully what a patient and kind man!).

I thanked him and asked whether we could also take a picture and he agreed immediately. I was surprised by how really, really friendly he was just amazing!

well, macstripey told you the rest of the story
just wanted to write down how I felt when I met them
it was an amazing experience I'll hopefully never forget and I'm so very glad that I didn't get disappointed by them in any way, like.. that they are just arrogant rockstars after all.
no way - those guys are incredibly nice
  3. I saw Bono, Edge, and Adam in person today!!!

I got to the Somerville Theater around 3:30pm today where they're having their gig tonight. There was nobody out in the front of the theater, and the police were just setting up the barricades. I went around the back, and there was a group of about 40 or so people waiting with the U2 equipment trucks (I saw Joe O'Herily, Sam Suillvan, and Brian Murphy). There was a barraicade separating us from the equipment and staff. We waited for an hour, and then we heard the sirens wailing in the distance. About two minutes later, a couple black cars pulled up, and Bono gets out first, then Edge, then Adam!!! They came right over to us, didn't even stop to talk to anyone else in the press or whatever. I was a couple rows back from the people up against the barricade, but as Bono and Edge made their way around to our side, they were each about 5 inches from my face. Absolutely amazing. So amazing.

I can't even think coherently right now, so this doesn't make much sense, but it was absolutely surreal. So cool to see the boys in person. So cool.

Some pics from today. I held my camera high above my head, which is why they're not great pictures, but you can still see the band members.

Amazing day. this was my first time being in the general vicinity of the band, let alone getting close to them. Best band ever.

crazy feeling isn't it? Starnge seeing them as just people on the street. Not on stage, not on TV, but there in front of your face. Quite a strange feeling. Was like that when I was at the U2:3D premiere

It is! Really really weird. Like they're everyday people. Insane. Such a good feeling. I don't even care that I didn't get a handshake or autograph or whatever. Just being there was amazing. I can't even describe it.

same here. I can barely even remember it

  7. It's just one big blur! They're there, and then they're gone. Crazy.

It's the weirdest thing to listen to their music for so long and listen to so many interviews and bootlegs and watch so many videos, and then see them for five minutes in person. You want to say so much, and then it all goes out of your head and you just scream their names. it's crazy!
  8. I'm so jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I listened to the show on U2.com........ oh my God, what I would have given to be there!

    Thanks for the pics Nicole!

it's amazing, isn't it you wait for a lifetime to meet them, and when the moment finally arrives... it's so "normal" to have them so close it becomes surreal LOL I'm so happy for you that you got that close
