Looking for a free program that will allow me to rip audio from youtube, without losing audio quality. Any hints?

I believe www.mediaconverter.org is pretty good. You can do the job online and I think it even allows you to download the software, check it out.
While we are here, the bad news is, I lost my 1st gen iPod Nano, I believe they stole it from me! The good news is, my Dad got me a new nano with video!... anyways, just wanted to ask, do I have to convert the videos myself then put them on the itunes and ipod or does itunes do conversion as well?

You have to convert them yourself, I think. Do you like the new nano?

Well, been using it for a couple of hours...but so far it seems pretty lovely and cute. I have been enjoying it
edit: I have moved a couple of videos on it, I converted them myself, but iTunes can convert too, I had some U2 videos in the "Movies" category of the library, just right clicked on it and chose "Convert for iPod/iPhone" or something like that.

Make sure you get the latest update (1.1.2). It improves things hellishly like the click-wheel and the slow menus, but doesn't do much for the sound.
They're nice enough, but that split-shit gives me the tip-shits.

What's wrong with the split menu? I remember you guys complaining about it...but what's so bad with it?
And about the update...for some weird reason (something wrong with my computer I guess) I haven't been able to connect to the iTunes store for the last couple of months, nor have I been able to get updates through iTunes (and for that matter, Yahoo and MSN messenger can't connect either)...so, can it be downloaded without iTunes?

It improves things hellishly like the click-wheel and the slow menus, but doesn't do much for the sound - the sound is very hissy and distorted when you even turn it up a bit. But that I didn't notice it too much with bootlegs and FLAC > MP3 192 CD conversions. And you still have to have artwork for it to look half-decent and now you get a screensaver, whether you like it or not. They're nice enough, but that split-shit gives me the tip-shits.

(you edit too much drew!)...I haven't experienced a lot with it, so I don't know about sound...but it's true that you must take care of the artworks for it to look cool...but that can be done, not so hard... but I didn't appreciate the screensaver either...

Slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... at times.
But as I said, it seems to pick up a bit with the new update. So you can't access iTunes? Weird.
We have this thing now where we can't access sites like MSN, Microsoft.com and whatever else at any given time. Not sure about updating firmware without iTunes though as I've never done it before. You could check out www.ilounge.com to see if anyone knows (I'm there too, under my usual name).
But at least now you can use Gerard's U2 videos. Welcome to the club!

hmm...is it slow on the nano as well? I heard it was more of a classic issue (along with the coverflow being slow)...
I'll try some sites inclding ilounge later, right now I have to study, have this exam tomorrow, "The Islamic Revolution" (and what the fuck does that have to do with my field, electronics,...I've got no clue!)...
And Gerard's videos...yep, that's the best bit, I already have Buenos Aires on, will get Santiago as well

That sounds like a barrel of fun. It could just be a classic issue and the hard drives, opposed to flash memory.
Ah well, have fun with the exams and the iPod.
