REM's new album came in at 35 minutes. Nothing wrong with a short album (as long as it's good).

Yep, nothing wrong at all, as long as it's good. REM's pretty damn good, overall it's a better album than Viva La Vida...but the styles are a bit different, REM's is hard rock or semi-hard, whatever you call it, Coldplay's it's soft rock...can't be compared song to song.

But overall, 35 of minutes of all great stuff compared to 45 of minutes of one great song, some good ones and some not so good ones is well...much better
  3. the 2009 Grammys: my prediction

    Album of the Year: U2
Record of the Year: Viva la Vida so far... then to be taken away by U2
    Song of the Year: U2
    Best New Artist: don't care?

Album of the year could come down between REM, Coldplay and U2

but we all know who will walk away with the win......

if U2 is out in Oct/Nov I don't think they will be eligible, maybe their new single will be

perhaps U2 speed things up and release the album in September, I believe the cutoff is Sept 30th.

I didn't like the strawberry thing, and haven't listened to 42 or Yes as of yet...

U2 is smart...they will compete for the grammies next year, so they don't have to compete with REM and Coldplay now.

aww, that would be cool though....
  11. i'm really really liking this album. Lovers in Japan just started and I love it already! this is a sick album, feels very new and forward thinking. If this is any, ANY indication of what is floating around in the air U2's new album will be truly remarkable, which we all know anyways
  12. this new album reminded me a tiny tiny bit of Panic at the Disco's "Pretty Odd". dont ask why.
