While a flat bat is obviously easier to hit a ball with than a round one, it needs to be remembered that cricket bowlers bounce the ball on the pitch before it gets to the batsman which raises the degrees of difficulty significantly. Because the ball can bounce, it can also spin off the pitch which is not something you see in baseball.
