1. Well, I guess the topic says the most Songs that mean something to you!
They don't have to be great songs but they're special to you

When it comes to U2 songs there are three songs that really means a lot to me.
"Walk On", "Stuck in a moment" and "Acrobat". I've gone through a lot of depressions and so on trough my life and these songs have and do still help me a lot!
I really owe U2 a lot cause they have literaly saved my life

Then there are some swedish songs that means a lot to me too. "Fria Vägar Ut" (Free Ways Out), "Söndag 13.3.99" (Sunday 13.3.99) and "Kom" (Come) by Lars Winnerbäck and "Vraket" (The Wreck) by Lisa Ekdahl also means a lot.
  2. Great topic

    For me, U2-wise, I'd point to songs like;

    - Stuck In A Moment... (always works for me when I'm down because it reminds you that there's something better just around the corner);
    - The First Time - the song with my favourite lyrics,"shows me colours when there's none to see, gives me hope when I can't believe" - kinda along the same lines, but it helps see the value in all those around me who I care about
    - Beautiful Day and Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - two fairly different songs, but they have that uplifting quality that very few other songs have in my opinion.
    - Zooropa - it's my song of the moment, because having just finished all my A-level exams, I'm now at that weird point in life where there's nothing for you to do, but soon I'm going to have to start making some big decisions as to where I want to take my life ("and I have no compass, and I have no map")

    As far as non-U2 songs go;

    - Fix You - uplifting, and the lyrics just speak out to me, with the whole idea of bringing someone up out of the darkness; I've had that a few times in life, be it me being lifted or me lifting someone else.

There are others, but I can't remember them lol....

Do that And I will surley remeber some on my own soon
    Ah!
Now I remeber one more that means a lot for me! But it's once again a swedish song
"Vackra pojkar, vackra män" (Beautiful Boys, Beautiful Men) by Rikard Wolff.
Well, the song is about discovering that you are gay, so it means a lot to me even if other people maybe finds the song disturbing.
  6. Nice topic!
Okay I got a lot of those songs, but here are a few...
    - SATS, I'm not the only one staring at the sun. Great lyrics!
    - Zoo Station, I'm ready to say i'm glad to be alive...
    - Kite, I'm a maaaaaaaaaan, i'm not a child
    - Electrical Storm, BD, Walk On, Stay and of course Streets. When I heard it for the first I didn't really like it, but now I get the chills of this song.

    Other Artist
    - Coldplay: Shiver and Warning Sign
    - Oasis: Supersonic and Wonderwall
    - The Verve: Bittersweet Symphony
    - Counting Crows: Have You Seen Me Lately?
  7. Still Haven't Found - the song that got me hooked to U2. ironically, not by faith either. also the first song I could really sing.

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own - to me this song isnt just about relationships with parents. It can be with someone who's inspired you so much, in this case the two who taught me how to sing.

Bad - Such a great song with deep lyrics. I'm trying to get my friend off drugs, he wont listen though.

The Fly - the Love chorus is prob the best bit off the song.

    other songs by others

That's What Friends Are For - in life there are songs that you become attached to. either you found it, or someone gave it to you. in this case this song was one of the songs me and the other two practised all the time. One of my favs no doubt.
  8. The Fly - a friend is someone who lets ya help...unfortunately, it's true for me

Acrobat - don't let the bastards grind you down...this line helps me a lot when I'm down

Walk On - what you've got they can't steal it, no they can't even feel it....everyone of us is special

Zooropa - this song is very strange and I am very strange as well

    others:

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony and Lucky Man
Richard Ashcroft - Break The Night With Colour and Keys to The World
dunno why, but these song are very important to me

Travis - Sing.....don't worry, be happy

The same counts for me. I'm weird too and I forgot Sing by Travis. BTW As You Are is also a song that means a lot to me...
  10. Stuck In A Moment and Walk On- They always helps me out whenever I feel sad or upset. It lets me know that it's gonna get better, I just have to be patient and not get too upset, and eventually, everything will be alright.

Beautiful Day- One day I was listening to this song while walking my dog, and I just sort of noticed how nice it was outside, how bright and beautiful the sky looked, how the leaves that were changing color and I realized that things didn't have to be so dark all the time (I had been somewhat depressed before this incident) and I don't know, it just sort of uplifted me.

Imagine(John Lennon)- It's one of those songs that gives me a bit of hope for the world.

Here Comes the Sun(The Beatles)- It's a lot like Beautiful Day, it just uplifts me.

  11. U2

Vertigo - Still one of my all-time favorites. Love the guitar and just the entire atmosphere of the entire song.

Beautiful Day - Always brings me out of the slumps, and tough times in life. "I know I'm not a hopeless case." - For whatever reason, that line just always gets to me. Don't know why though.

Discotheque - The first U2 song I ever remember hearing (And a weird one to be my first U2 song...what can I say? I was like 5)

Bad - It's Bad! Duh. I think this song touches every U2 fan....

40 - Such a powerful song....plus the lyric and the scripture used in it.

Last Night On Earth - This one finally converted the girlfriend into a fan, so I guess that's special. But I really love it because of that riff....my gosh. That riff just hooks onto you and pulls you in. It's also fun to sing along to, because I can hit Edge's notes during the chorus...

    Streets - Just perfect, lol.

I'm sure I'll think of some more later....

    Non-U2

Foo Fighters - Everlong - What a powerful song...My second favorite song behind Streets. This one can't be put into words, you just have to listen to really understand the power of it.

Radiohead - Just - "You do it to yourself, you do. And that's why it really hurts, 'cause you do it to yourself, just you. You and no one else, you do it to yourself..........wow, what a lyric.

Radiohead - Creep - A really dark, creepy (;) ) and eerie song. But I love it, for whatever reason. Also, the "Dead Notes" before the chorus are really fun to play on guitar.

INXS - Never Tear Us Apart - Great song, with great lyrics. It's definitely about relationships, and sticking together through the thick and thin. It really reminds me of "Stand By Me"

Nirvana - Lithium - A true teenager's song. About, just not really caring about anything. I think everyone has that kinda attitude at some point in life.

Nirvana - In Bloom - The first song I ever learned on guitar...has an awesome riff, and a great melody.

Coldplay - Clocks - Words cannot describe this song....simply beautiful
