1. Hi Everyone
Having found the following 'almost the entire show was synched and sequenced, with most numbers featuring pre-recorded percussion, keyboard, or guitar elements underlying the U2 members' live instrumentals and vocals. This practice has continued on their subsequent tours' on Wikipedia about the Zoo Tv show, how would we all feel if next time round additional musicians were on stage thus allowing a greater variation in the set lists. It will never happen but if the hired hands stayed in the background then any additional flexability to the overall show would only enhance it even more. What do you think?
  2. U2 are four musicians, a sequencer and ME playing a song with them might be nice. But honestly, the technology arguement for supplemental musicians isnt' so strong.

Why? Why indeed! U2 have used sequencers since 1984. So why change 24 years later and have another person or two or whatever on stage? It doesn't add any flexibility.

I'd rather just see Adam, Larry, Bono and The Edge... and me play a song.

Even The Police did without the extra folks and backing singers on thier 'reunion' tour as they gave the fans what they wanted "The Police" not The Police Production.
  3. i'm sure a lot of the noises heard, sequences and such were done by them in the studio, or at least by Edge
  4. I don't see the need to have someone on stage to play the Bad loop. It's true that there aren't too many true true live U2 songs but the additions are only minor. The organs during Streets, Bad and WOWY loops etc. You barely notice them

What about the piano on Walk On?

true. I agree that part should have actually been played by someone but they couldn't have had someone on stage every night during Elevation could they. It's too big of a part to add in artificially

After Bono's supposed Piano classes....I hope he can play it if they're gonna do it on the next tour...there was some other song that Bono played on the piano, right? I remember having seen a video...

Sweetest Thing has been the only song i've seen him playing. Additional musicians are only for every now and again appearances. Jo Shankar was a memorable one

    Agreed, Shankar's performance was awesome

Re. Bono, I've always that he could play a bit more piano-wise (I remember when OOTS was released with the U2 iPod shizzle, I swore I remember seeing him playing the piano but I was wrong lol...), I mean stuff like RTSS or Walk On wouldn't be beyond him - hell, I can play those piano bits fairly well and I only bothered learning to grade 3 standard! I taught myself afterwards...
  10. There is somebody beneath the stage playing the keyboard parts.
  11. YEAH WHEN u2 played original of the species in Amsterdam on the 07/16/2005
there came a guy on the stage who played the piano part ...later i heard that this was
Terry lawless the keyboards programmer who played beneeth the stage all the keyboard parts .they played a full band version of oots ...
this is the only time that happend on the vertigo tour ...i was lucky to be there ...
best show ever for me !!!!
you can also see on the dvd from the lovetown tour on 01/05/1990 in rotterdam that

U2 with a keyboard player or another guitar players... pointless when technology (sequencers) can do most of the 'extra' work - and have already done so for U2 for 24 years.

Guests are great... Bruce, Lanois, Shankar, Brandon from The Killers, Mary J. Blige... but as a rule? Not a good idea in my view.
