I thought those were quite creative.
  2. Besides, the 'puns' weren't the point. The showing of some of Bono's instruments and effects were the point.
  3. If I were going for puns I'd have referred to a nice pair of "Birds", as both guitars are named after birds (Falcon and Dove)

    Buy anyroad...

Seems Gretsch has changed the finish of the Irish Falcon from it's initial "Everygreen" finish to the darker, and in my view more pleasant, Cadillac Green... similar to the colour of Bono's 1959 Gretsch Country Club - which was his main Elevation electric before the arrival of the Irish Falcons.

  4. The puns are not lost on me Jeff, a little too much along the lines of the uncle at a wedding's type of humour but still, your energies are not entirely wasted!

Nice pics of Bono's kit - I wouldn't want an Irish Falcon myself BUT you can't deny they're charismatic guitars in their own right.

I would love one! I love white falcons in general - not just for looks and design but tone. The lighter green "everygreen" never set well with me. So yeah... If they have truly gone to the cadillac vs. everygreen finish, I wouldn't mind one.

now tell me, someone who has no clue how to play a guitar, why is that?

You were really kidding, right? You weren't really offended by silly boy humour, right? Especially as it was hardly the point that I was making... the point being the guitars and effects.

    Honest.

It just seems far too big lol. Don't get me wrong, if someone gave me one tomorrow, I'd happily keep it and look after it BUT I wouldn't get one otherwise. One thing is that I don't like pointy headstocks in general, hence I dislike stuff like SGs, most PRSes, Schechters etc. - however, I make exception for the Explorer because it just looks different to everything else and to me looks pretty swish.

Ok, Jana matey you've lost me - erm, I do play the guitar lol. And as for why I wouldn't want one, read above

Gretsch guitars has a model called a White Falcon. It's been made since the 1950's. During the Elevation tour, Fred Gretsch brought Bono a proto-type of a White Falcon but in green. Bono had been playing a cadillac green 1959 Gretsch Country Club for most of the early Elevation dates.

The "everygreen" (finish) Falcon became known as the "Irish Falcon". This is the guitars that Bono has with The Goal is Soul emblazoned on the pickguard.

Gretsch later introduced a production model of the guitar, with a portion of the procedes going to DATA.

I get the reference. And yep, that was a great show. But I doubt that Jim Carrey would go back to doing TV and the Wayans Bros quit the show as FOX kept intruding and telling them what they could and couldn't do and should and shouldn't do.

I got the full series on DVD, but lets get back on topic. Should Edge start using a talkbox>
