ZooTV WOWY's only has the Solo. Great solo it is but does it make the performances the best? i don't think so

Aha, tt's not just the solo, just as I'm not keen on the LT and JT versions but can't explain it, it's the same thing - there's just something different about them that I love...

...I wouldn't worry about it mate, many say I'm thoroughly illogical lol.

WOWY is a JT era song and for me it needs a JT era voice (and the ZooTV voice just ain't it) I get and understand the hype of the Zoo versions but I don't think that they match the JT versions for sheer raw performance or emotion. Check Brussels 87 and the second Dublin gig for my reasoning

Hmmm...I love the theatre that went with ZooTV performances, I mean the Sydney DVD version is amazing in my opinion, not to mention fairly emotional - alright, no Shine Like Stars or solo but it's damn good. I don't really like Bono's voice for much of the JT era - don't get me wrong, I still love JT and LT performances, but there's something about ZooTV era stuff that just does it for me, as I've said. It feels a lot more polished off in addition to being a great spectacle...

I think Sydney has more to do with the situation the band were in in regards to Adams personal status etc than the emotion generated by the song itself. Great performance no doubt but no more than that. The ZooTV performances are polished and thats probably why I don't like them. I'll upload the Brussels and Dublin JT versions for you (Dublin has an amazing impro verse thats never been attempted since and clocks in at near 9 minutes) and Brussels is just run of the mill 1987 but just sounds so good. Listen to both when I upload them and let me know what you think

Ah yeah, I take the point about the emotion not being part of the song itself, but more about exterior circumstance Don't get me wrong, I love emotional performances but I mean, it's partly why I prefer later versions of Boy era songs than earlier ones, e.g. IWF and Electric Co. They just come across so much better in my opinion on, say, the Vertigo tour, but that's my opinion lol - not gospel law...

Upload to where, here? But I will if you throw them my way (or provide me means with which to get hold of them lol)

i'll get you a sendspace link or something tomorrow with the 2 performances mentioned above. Brussels is awesome with Bono doing some great guitar work and Dublin has that great impro verse to.

As a lover of ZooTV performances of WOWY have you heard 1992-04-23 - Vancouver? It's the best of 1992 perhaps. A great God Part ll snippet and an extended solo by the Edge

good stuff. I'll get those other versions to you tomorrow (though you should have the Brussels show already as it's the best gig in the history of U2)

Ahaha - I can! As long as I can DL one part on here, I'll use our other PC to DL the 2nd part. I only like DLing shows all at once, or at least get both parts (or however many there are) ASAP.

Twould be good re. the other versions, nice one chap

However you download, the Brussels gig is worth it. I'll add a MU link soon as it will be my next BRT choice. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the best U2 gig ever.
