Check out the sign:
"Caution - Achtung / Attention / Cuidado"
Originally posted by DougielIt's means 'attention' in German but the origin of the phrase comes from the recording sessions in Berlin. One of the crew started using the phrase as a joke and when it came to naming the album no-one came up with a better suggestion.

[This comes from my poor translation from U2 By U2... Sorry for the possible mistakes, I do what I can...;)]

Our sound mixer, Joe O'Herlihy, used to use the expression "Actung, Baby!".
I asked him why he did and he told me that it was one of his favourite sentence of the film The Producers, which used to be played while the ban travelled through America.
I thought it would fit perfectly to the title of the album, because it made you pay attention, it referred to the recording in Germany and it drove you to think in a romance or a birth. In addition, it had enough lighting to hide the power of the album.
Other suggestions were calling it Man in opposition to Boy... And we even thought to title it Adam (and that's why we photographied him naked for the cover!)
