    Radiohead are fantastic and they are hardly U2 wanna-be's. The UK press tried to make The Bends out to be Radiohead's The Joshua Tree. Whatever. Radiohead follow their own path. if anything, they've more in common with Can than U2.

    I know many here hate Coldplay. I like them for what they are. They are a melodic pop group. I can appreciate that.

    Hmm, I don't know much about Radiohead, but watching the video of "High and Dry" (which was according to the writer of the article in question, their ode to WOWY), I couldn't see much in the way of U2-isms. All I knew was that I hope the guy doesn't sing out of tune all the time I prefer Bono's voice. The only other thing that made me laugh re. Radiohead was that someone on that blog had said that U2 coped Radiohead's album "The Bends" that you alluded to, but it made me laugh in that, from what I know, U2's most definitive albums on a sonic level were JT and AB, which both came out at least 4 years before ''The Bends''...

    The Killers? The only U2-isms I can think of are similar to that of Coldplay, in that Johnny Buckland and the guy from The Killers have a similar style to that of Edge. Now, whether that's a case of copying, I don't know, but to be honest is that a crime? Tell me a guitarist who hasn't been influenced by other guitarists? I sure have.#

    As Bono wrote, "every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief", and he's just as guilty, so I don't think people should get so worked up. U2 themselves were influenced by other bands, but by breaking away from the mould, they set a benchmark which others are now trying to equal or better. And that's tough

  4. I also am of the opinion that it's not a "crime" to sound rather similar to someone else who has been around longer, eg. Coldplay - U2.
    And while it's true that Coldplay really sound quite similar to U2 I actually thinks it's a cool thing because as a music lover you then have more variety in artists you like of the same sound/feel.

    Regarding the article I absolutely disagree that Radiohead are "a band who pretend to be U2"...I really cannot hear any similarities when I listen to Radiohead except for the feature that they have, in my opinion, a quite unique and 'special' sound, just like U2 thanks to The Edge.

    Nonetheless I'd like to add some more bands who have a very similar sound to U2, eg. Grand Avenue, Kane, Reamonn, Royseven (partly) or some songs by Angels & Airwaves (notably the song 'The Adventure').
  5. Don't forget U2 was influenced by a lot of artists too. Just read U2 by U2 to know which artists.
  6. Naturally cause its me and i love them i have to mention Angels and Airwaves, they've taken the best from the JT era and made it very high concept.

    The reusult of their first album, is a truly dizzying and dazzling experience.

  9. I find Angels and Airwaves to be a U2 ripoff. Even a friend of mine who is a diehard fan of Mr. Delonge agrees on this.
  10. Coldplay a poor man`s U2 , Keane dont even deserve a mention in my book,
    Radiohead have consistantly changed musical direction with each album unlike U2 and still are one of the greatest live acts around as are U2 !
