I mean, my bro' comes home most weekends from work, and spends his time playing Nightwish, Iron Maiden etc. which I don't mind, it's just not my kind of music, but he insists on standing on the landing (the corridor which connects our upstairs) and playing VERY LOUDLY, and doesn't care that the rest of us don't wanna hear it. I mean, it's not that I don't like loudness, just not his loudness lol. I shut my door and keep the amp at a reasonable level most of the time when people are in the house, to keep the noise in, but that's out of practicality lol. Every so often, we might have a jam or something but he gets pissed off that I tune my guitars down half a step and always makes comments over my technique.

    I don't really care who's a better player, we have our different fortés. I'm happy to admit that I can't do stupidly fast solos etc., I'll leave my bro to do that. I've based my style on the music I predominantly listen to, e.g. U2, and thus my guitar playing is built from that, so I'll either play U2 music or incorporate elements in improvisations. I like music to have feeling. I don't intend to go out and impress, because to me, music is a very personal thing - it's not that I don't care about what other people think etc., but it's more that I am not gonna change who I am because people don't like my taste in music lol.

    Dude, I think you are my brother from another mother haha. My brother doesn't do that, he doesn't play really loud or anything, in fact he usually plays his acoustics. We did have a jam one time, it was God's Country haha. he played acoustic and I played electric. Cool moment. Then we played Wish you Were Here because he likes Pink Floyd. Rarely happens, but it's cool, until he tells me U2 is gay and walks away or something.

    As for solo's, once you are able to do them, you will man. Haha trust me. In the past couple months I've only started being able to solo fast, using blues scales and such. I don't just pull out a solo while I'm playing Pride though haha. The solo in that song is good enough. But if I'm playing the Fly, or the Bullet solo, something like that, I will honestly just imrpovise and take it too higher levels. Of course it doesn't have the same atmosphere or feeling as the original solo, but It's fun to do and it makes you sound real good at guitar hahaha.

    BTW. ROLO ICE CREAM IS AWESOME! I'm eating it now. Harry, go steal some with your gang buddies right now, its that good.

    There is one on that "Play Guitar With U2" songbook CD. I don't know where to get that off the internet though.

    Yeah I get you lol - I usually make it up when I lose my way lol, those 2 songs in particular lol - I'm good with theory, e.g. scales, keys and chords etc. but it's just that my 5th finger are completely out of sync. with the 2nd and 3rd, and the 4th isn't much better lol...for BTBS, I've made up my own solo to compensate for the fact that I can't do the uber fast bit Edge does when he just flies up the fret board near the end lol.     Wow thats cool man! With your dad and all. My dad just usually says "Turn that down your going to go deaf". I still need to learn that uber fast bit you're talking about. I can never get a good tab for it. Maybe I'll just try to learn it by ear tonight. But I CAN play it, I have the speed down, it's just I don't know the notes. I love to play that solo though, it's so damn fun.

    And no it's only 9:20 PM here.

    lol, yeah, thing is I've never touched tabs in my life, just 'cause I prefer doing things by ear and actually WATCHING whoever I'm trying to copy.

    Hell, at 11pm I said I didn't intend to stay until 2am...

    ...it's now 2:23am
