(although, if it were up to me, I'd leave Grace and New York off the album completely!)

New York!!!!!! What!!! Have you heard it live... or album for that matter!!! And Grace is the reason why I'm a U2 fan. My mom bought the album for that song (right after my sister Grace was born), If that never happened, I would have never heard the album and I wouldn't be listing reasons why New York & Grace DO deserve a place on that album. (Imagine me saying "God" in the Napolean Dynamite voice right now.)

Haha....Hammish Hamilton ruinied "New York" for me when he butchered it with the black&white effect on the Boston DVD. And I'm not to keen on the lyrics for Grace, and it's a bit of a sleeper for me.

The song is nothing special, but I really dig that effetct.

I'm with you on that one. Absolutely no idea why everyone picks on this song, its a wonderful song. Very 'graceful' ambient atmosphere to it, a real drifting and serene feel to it which was a spectacular way to finish an album beginning as explosively with Beautiful Day.

If you don't 'get' this one, try listening to it lying on a sunny afternoon on the beach or in a hammock snoozing with your girl in your arms. You'll get it.
  5. I wouldn't change it for anything.

It's perfect the way it is and The Ground Beneath Her Feet ends it beautifully with the last note, and Beautiful Day opening it with the thumping intro.

    For the Rushdie story:

In early 1989, Khomeini issued a fatwa calling for the assassination of Salman Rushdie, an India-born British author. Khomeini claimed that Rushdie's assassination was a religious duty for Muslims because of his alleged blasphemy against Muhammad in his novel, The Satanic Verses. Rushdie's book contains passages that many Muslims – including Ayatollah Khomeini – considered offensive to Islam and the prophet, but the fatwa has also been attacked for violating the rules of fiqh by not allowing the accused an opportunity to defend himself, and because "even the most rigorous and extreme of the classical jurist only require a Muslim to kill anyone who insults the Prophet in his hearing and in his presence."

Though Rushdie publicly apologized, the fatwa was not revoked. Khomeini explained,

Even if Salman Rushdie repents and becomes the most pious man of all time, it is incumbent on every Muslim to employ everything he has got, his life and wealth, to send him to Hell.

Rushdie himself was not killed but Hitoshi Igarashi, the Japanese translator of the book The Satanic Verses, was murdered and two other translators of the book survived attempted assassinations.

This one's pretty good. I like this one!
  7. Mine would be like this:
    1. Beautiful Day
    2. Stuck In A Moment
    3. Elevation
    4. Walk On
    5. Kite
    6. In A Little While
    7. Wild Honey
    8. Peace On Earth
    9. When I Look At The World
    10. New York
    11. Grace
    (12. The Ground Beneath Her Feet)

    Hey! It's already like this!

I think it's perfect the way it is

  8. Elevation
    Beautiful Day
    Wild Honey
    In A Little While
    Stuck In A Moment
    Grace
    New York
    Kite
When I Look At The World
    Peace On Earth
    Walk On
    The Ground Beneath...
  9. My alternative ATYCLB:

    1. Beautiful Day
    2. Elevation
    3. Love You Like Mad
    4. New York
    5. The Ground Beneath Her Feet
    6. Levitate
    7. Kite
    8. In a Little While
    9. Flower Child
    10. Stateless
    11. Walk On
    12. *Bonus: Stuck in a Moment (starts acoustic, into full electric/strings arrangement at end, a la Conan O’Brien)

    Singles:
Beautiful Day / Beautiful Day (Q&S mix) / When I Look at the World
Elevation / Elevation (Tomb Raider mix) / Wild Honey
The Ground Beneath Her Feet / TGBHF (acoustic) / Grace
Walk On / Walk On (Hallelujah mix) / Peace on Earth

  10. 1) Elevation
    2) Beatiful Day
    3) In a Little While
    4) Walk On
    5) Stuck in a Moment
    6) Wild Honey
    7) Grace
    8) When I Look At The World
    9) New York
    10) Peace On Earth
    11) Kite

I think they did the right thing in keeping the "Big Four" songs at the start of the album, but i thing kites a nice finisher
  11. 01 - Elevation (Biffco Mix but with the Influx intro - like the shows / far superior mix, in to my ears)
    02 - Beautiful Day
    03 - The Ground Beneath...
    04 - Stuck In A Moment
    05 - New York
    06 - Wild Honey
    07 - In A Little While
    08 - Grace
09 - When I Look At The World
    10 - Kite
    11 - Peace On Earth
12 - Walk On (Single mix, w/the Hallelujah's - again, it's similar to the shows and that is a good thing)

Although, I'd actually dump "Grace" and "The Ground Beneath..." and add "Levitate" and "Love You Like Mad", as which to make the album a bit less mid-tempo. (Maybe leaving "The Ground..." as a unlisted bonus track)

THIS (above) is closer to the idea that I'd go for... if one could as some of the 'outtakes'.
